also, if nobody else ate the pie, then whoever eats the leftovers (hounds or poor people) will result in a flurry of deaths that will tend to exonerate tyrion.

Ah...hadn't thought of that. What if Cersei intended for Marjorie to eat it, which is why she said to give the leftovers to the dogs...Maybe she figured she could somehow pin it on Tyrion or the freaky prince.

Although, I guess she would have slapped the plate out of Jeoffrey's hand or something...or else she really wasn't paying much attention.

i would wager that the prince of dorne had something to do with it. they setup his appearance with the implication that he'd fight somebody, but that never happened. plus, as mentioned before, tyrion's involvement would be too obvious. he wouldn't be dumb enough to kill joffrey in a way that would directly implicate himself.

Prince Oberyn will be fighting soembody though. The Mountain.

Interesting episode: obviously not Tyrion. Could've been the Prince of Dorne, could've been his new bride from highgarden, could've been someone who we couldn't imagine at this point but will become all to clear as the story unfolds.

Not spoiling anything that hasn't been showed in the trailers.

The trailer doesn't show the face of the man he fights and The Mountain (who had only been recast and may not have been immediately recognizable) has been recast for the third time.

Possible suspects:

Prince of Dorne - Motive: he came to town with revenge on his mind

Sircee (sp?) - Don't put anything past her. Her new fondness of the old Meister could bring access to the poison, whether through the wine or the pie. Motive: The way I'm thinking, she is still the Queen Regent, right? That's really all she ever wanted. Even she knew Joeffry was beyond reproach and was standing in the way of her power.

Tyrian - I'm going to throw him in here because he has threatened the king several times, but I really doubt he did it.

Sansa - If anyone had a motive to kill Joeffry, it was her. I don't think she has the constitution for such a thing, but she definately wanted to see him dead.

The Fool -- After the public humuliation and demoting, he certainly had a motive. I can't remember if it was in the episode or in the previews to next week, but he is trying to usher off Sansa amidst all the commotion, so even if he didn't do it, he was probably involved in some way.

Hell, just about everyone had a reason to kill Joeffry. My money is on Sircee (sp?) though. She has the most to gain and she is one evil bitch, so killing her own son doesn't seem to far out of character ... especially when she can frame her brother (Tyrian) in the process. That said, finding out anyone who did it won't shock me.

Does anyone remember the leeches with the king's blood in them?
Stannis said a king's name for each leech he tossed into the fire.
Clearly, The Lord of Light is offing these guys.

I was thinking it was Margaery Tyrells Grandmother.

Asking because I don't know but wouldn't Margaery still be Queen? Or is that off now that Joffery is dead?

I don't think so because she didn't remain queen of house Barantheon after Renly was killed. Heir to the Iron Throne fell to Stannis (though he has an older brother?). The marriage also wasn't consummated.

So who will be the king now? Tommen?

Margarey cannot be queen because the marriage was not consumated.

Renly and Stannis were brothers correct? I really need to start reading the books.

Yes, Robert was the older brother of Stannis and Renly. Renly being the youngest. All of thise is from the show as well btw.

Here is an interesting theory from Kotaku. Don't click if you haven't watched last night's episode

The Big Thing You Might've Missed During Last Night's Game of Thrones

And to play off on that theory. Go back and re-watch the part where Olenna was stalking to Sansa, and watch Olenna's hand.

Yeah Renly and Stannis were brothers. It was kind of ridiculous that Renly claimed the throne since he's the youngest of three brothers. Stannis was also the middle brother.

Didn't read the books but I have been trying to keep up with the show.
I'm thrilled that cowardly little prick Joffrey bit the dust. F that dude.
Fitting it was a drawn out excruciating death, whimpering into the never....
It would have been way to easy to just behead that nitwit.LOL

my buddy thinks it will be brienne of tarth. she was at the wedding, and he thought it was odd to have her approach the wedding party at the beginning of the scene.

I totally believe this. It was Olenna Tyrell working with Ser Dontos.
