4-3 DE might be one of the most glamorous positions out there right now since you can wrack up sacks and show off athleticism. Not to mention how many have been drafted high the last few years.

I'd think the changes BVG is bringing will only help us here.

While I agree it is becoming glamorous. A pass rusher is a pass rusher. The more you can do the more options you bring. Demarcus Ware did his damage out of a 3-4, JJ Watt is in a 3-4 at DE, Clay Mathews has had a very successful career at ROLB, Suggs with Baltimore. The list goes on and on. Kids just need to sit down and take the time to actually look at the facts. If your a good football player you'll be successful.

To clairfy, are you talking late summer visit? official in fall? Or the spring game?

I'm not talking about anything, that is a quote from TJ on Cornell and the possibility of him visiting.

Ok, just seems like a silly question then. We're easily in his top 3, so IDK why he wouldn't at the very least official here. So I thought someone was asking about an unofficial to the BG game or in June.

Agreed, I'm not worried about where we stand at all. I posted the whole quote but like I mentioned what I found interesting was that we have some convincing to do as it relates to scheme or future position. For me it had nothing to do with whether he visited or not.

As a future Mendoza guy, I can say there really is nothing like it compared to other programs. Obviously it may never have the general public recognition of Wharton, but the professors are the ones that sell the Mendoza school. I had a 30 minute call with the Dean of Accounting a month or so ago and you can really tell that the tone at the top has a positive impact on the whole business school.

Unfortunately, Michigan is also ranked #8. But there's something special about the #1 ranking. Hopefully that can sell Jashon.

As a future Mendoza guy...

If Mendoza's good enough for Gus, Cornell is only a matter of time.

As a current Mendoza guy, you will soon realize that while Mendoza is great:

Wharton>>>>>Mendoza and its not close.

Don't get me wrong, I love the professors, I love ND more than anyone and anything, but do yourself some good and acknowledge sooner rather than later that's the case. Mendoza is awesome, but its not Wharton (in terms of resources, professors, and employment prospects to name a few).

Completely agree with you, Jimmy. Just citing that the BusinessWeek ranking has some pull with regards to recruiting. Wharton is obviously better, but ND can say "we're #1" whether its true or not.

Either way it's a wash with football recruiting because any elite business program can sell itself to a recruit. At the end of the day, if Jashon wants business ND is in good position. Let's just hope Penn doesn't make a huge push.

Just curious how you know this. Did you also do an MBA at Wharton? Undergrad? Have you had the professors for courses?

These are honest questions.

I'm a rising senior at ND, but am from philly and have 10+ friends at Wharton. Basically, job prospects is what really shows the difference for me- IBanking is generally recognized as most competitve business job post college. At ND it is by no means easy to get, in fact, most who desire IBanking positions do not receive them. Wharton is much easier, albeit not handed to you.

Also, while ND does have great faculty, they don't really compare in my opinion to those at Wharton, but I guess that's my opinion.

Having said that, I think ND undergrad Mendoza is certainly top five and an incredible school.

Thanks for the reply. I assumed it was job related but I don't have a business background so i wanted to hear it from someone in the trenches. If IBanking wasn't your goal, then an ND business degree would hold more comparative weight?

No matter the answer, if business was my field Notre Dame would be a strong attraction.

I believe what Jimmy was getting at was that Wharton is an exceptional business program with the most prominent name recognition. While IBanking is not necessarily the dream for all business students, it is the path with the most glamour and prestige attached to it. 80 hour work weeks become the norm. These jobs are not easy to obtain primarily because the JPMorgans, Goldmans, and Barclays of the world will recruit students outside of the business field. My sister attends Princeton and it not uncommon for biology, history, or english majors to beat out economics majors for these analyst positions. The competition is cutthroat. So the point being that the top tier jobs are not easy to obtain and Wharton does the best out of all undergrad business programs. Mendoza students on the other hand have an easier time obtaining a position in the professional services field, ie accounting, valuation, or consulting from an Accenture, EY, PwC; all very very reputable firms.

As it relates to recruiting and Jashon, having the #1 undergrad business school according to BusinessWeek helps but will not necessarily seal the deal. Prospective football players who wish to pursue a degree in business have the ability to receive a premier business education from many rival schools. Maybe I'm too new here to be praising them, but Michigan, Penn State, Texas and others that ND recruits against have extremely reputable programs. To sum it up: Mendoza only reaffirms Notre Dame's position as a potential landing spot for Jashon.

The question any smart recruit must ask is how many football players are enrolled in your business degree program. I recall one recruit who asked that question and was told - we have one - our punter. He came to Notre Dame.
