I used to be a video editor for Mtv Networks and continue to sharpen that blade with PTHF videos.

Im currently an Air Traffic Controller at the New York Tracon. But since I was certified at a facility in MS I'm training here in NY. Training at the busiest air traffic facility in the country is the most stressful and rewarding process I've ever been a part of.

I am the head coach of a junior high football team outside of my hometown Muncie. This past season we went 10-0. I also am an assistant coach for our varsity team who in their second full year of varsity football had a winning record and won its first sectional game. I am also a full-time student at Ball State majoring in Secondary Social Studies Education.

If you want more details, you can check out my linked-in. https://www.linkedin.com/pub/beau-benken/72/395/b56

Feel free to add me. And bump all my skills! :)

Wait wait wait... I have wondered this for years... how do you guys fix that golf course after Bruin games or the Rose Bowl??? I have been to UCLA games after a couple days of rain and the golf course just gets destroyed by the traffic.

Same thing they do in Ann Arbor every Saturday. They probably block off all the fairways so you can't put any cars on them and direct traffic only through the rough of the golf course.

But what if I want to park my Wrangler in a bunker?

For UCLA/ WSU 2008 (I think)... we parked on the fairway... we stayed late and by time we got to the 'parking lot' it was nothing but an offroad course.

High five! PMs are overrated and BAs are where it's at (looking at you, condomnsuck and Irish#1).

My new role responsibilites is a bit different than my past experience as a BA, but that's still my title. In my internship at an Insurance company though, literally word for word exactly what you mentioned. I liked it a lot. Tons of communication which I enjoy and it's not very techincal at all. Not saying your job isn't technical because every company uses BAs a bit differently, but in my experience being a BA really isn't, and I love that.

I got a lot of satisfaction from meeting with Directors and other big wigs who made 150K+ but knew nothing about IT, and 'developing' what they need. They're always so thankful and impressed (not tooting my own horn - the developers are the real stars, IMO, but BAs and PMs get the credit!).

PM's get the credit because they deserve it. In the smaller companies like my current and previous one, not only did I manage IT, but the PM work also required me to the BA as well. The boys with the money appreciate it when a project is delivered on time and under budget because the PM is the guy that put up with everyone's whining yet made sure everyone stayed on target. There's a lot of skill to getting all the different personalities working on the same page. You do realize that the PM is dealing with the user, management, analyst, developers, networks, infrastructure, finance, vendors, etc.? Then remember that they handle multiple projects at the same time

Word. Since I do have a very strong technical background, I tend to make my business analyst/product management role more technical. IE I know SQL, so I tell developers exactly how I want the tables, sp's and functions designed. Even create store procedures and functions at times for to help the developers.

I feel you pain Sherm. Our IT staff is four so I wear a lot of different IT hats Network, PM, Server (AD, Exchange, etc.) admin, etc.. Just went through a fiber conversion and am now working on getting the remote offices off of cable modem and on an MPLS network. This while evaluating CRM software for the owner and trying to find out what his real requirements are. You hearing me Kuehnja? lol

Lol, no need to explain yourself. I'm just giving you a hard time. You make the big bucks so I know you can take it :). Like I said, I'm gunning for your job.

I know it's just in good fun. I used to make decent money until my job was eliminated. With my age (yes age discrimination is alive and well in the job market) I had to take a different role and a big pay cut. The nice thing about this job is there is virtually no stress, i don't have someone bitching at minute everyday and it's only 10 minutes from home. My previous job was over an hour commute.

Word I do the something as you, except I have a PM for my off shore development team. I kind of like wearing multiple hats in a small company, but I know to make more money and for my career to take off I need to focus on product management/business analyst and ugg eventually PM.

P.S. sales force cloud is probably the best CRM tool if your company has sales team and inside sales employees.

I am a PGA Golf Professional at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena, Ca. I am sure you have seen the course. We are adjacent to the Rose Bowl, so cars park on it during games. When the blimp flies overhead for a camera shot you can see all the cars on the course. I purchased the Golf Shop in December. So its basically teach golf and operate a retail store, two jobs in one.

So I'm an avid viewer of II but rarely post anything. Thought I'd share that I recently accepted a position in Grand Valley State Universities Athletic Department working with game and event operations.

What are your first two degrees? Why Pet. Eng? Salary? I have a cousin (through marriage) who just completed his Pet Eng degree and he was picked up right out of college. Very good field if you find the work interesting and your capable of completing it.

First is Radiologocal Control from a JUCO, which was an AAS. My second was a Bach in Waste Management with a minor in Aviation Science.

I've been pursued very aggressively by EHS within my company but safety and environmental compliance isn't my desire. Pet. eng is something I'm interested in for salary. I'm gonna head the Reservoir route; one of my buddies that a well tester is gonna go the Production route, as our goal is to open up a small production company in 10 years and to sink a few money makers.

UND has an online ABET accredited program in which you have to do labs over the summer for a few weeks each summer. $$$ bills y'all.

Cousin an A&M or TTU grad? Okie St?

I am a Chiropractor in Kansas City. Absolutely love what I do. Always wanted to help people, and be involved in athletics. See a ton of local athletes as patients so I get to do both. My dad is a teacher/coach and loves it, but he also had to be gone a lot as a bartender on weekends etc. to make ends meet. When I was picking between the two roads, he nudged me towards the Chiropractic path and told me to coach my kids on the weekends. Nothing but respect to all you guys, but especially you teacher/coaches.

Also, major props and respect to you emergency medicine guys. I am way too big a wuss to handle a patient dying on me. One of my former teammates and good buddies from college is an E.R. Doc here in town and he has some awesome stories too. I definitely prefer my back pain patients to be due to yard work vs. things in their rectum. It is amazing how common a thing that seems to be?!?!?!?!

Cousin was A&M grad. If I could "Work force interruptus" without throwing my family's life into a spiral, I think Petroleum engineering would be the way to go. The job security is very appealing. Have you started the program already? If so, I may bug you from time to time to hear how it's going.

Currently a substitute teacher at a local public school. I have been doing this for two years while I search for a full time Social Studies position. Of course the market is tough in education right now, especially since I'm not in Math or English. Hopeful to find a job this cycle, or I might have to start looking at other career options. If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly welcomed.

I also coach 7th & 8th grade boys' basketball for the last two year as well as an assistant for JV/Varsity baseball. A lot of time, but I love it!

My advice is to get out of the Midwest. My wife taught for 7 years and then took ten off to raise our children. Tried for three years to get back into a full time job in OH and couldn't find anything. We moved to SC and she had a job in a couple weeks. The south needs teachers like crazy - and teachers that are also coaches get hired in a minute.

Good luck!

I'm admitted spring 2015.

It will be very interrupting. I too have a family. 3 young daughters in fact. And their smoking hot momma. So I'll be taking my summer vacations in North Dakota until I'm finished.

But to retire from working out of my living room will be great. That's the goal.

You wouldn't believe it, but golfers are out the next morning around 6am. They have it down to a science. Of course there are remnants of tailgating. Beer caps and charcoal are around but it's not bad. Now, if it rains during the game and they parked the course it takes weeks to fix, but people still play. It's humorous after a concert. A few used condoms can be seen laying around.

Anyway, I want out of Cali bad but I have told my wife many times if we are forced to stay we are retiring in SD or Pasadena... you friend, are living the dream.
