Okay, maybe cannibals. I missed this:

The Shag also pointed out that Rick and his group were being "herded" into the boxcar area and then placed in cattle cars. I guess they would know these sorts of things. That, and the Termites were intentionally not hitting Rick and his group because you only want to kill your meat when you're ready to eat it, good point there.

That said, they like to refer to Carl as "Corl" over there, which I think is hilarious.

That picture does say a thousand words, most of which are things like, "Need more salt?" Or, "Please pass the legs!"

That not withstanding, I will honor the convoluted storylines thus far and predict that the end of the episode is nothing but an exercise in trust, that Glenn and Laurie are in on it and that the people that founded Terminex are made up entirely of former corporate motivational speakers, est trainers, and Scientologists.

The episode would have been one of the most epic season finales if they didn't end with that awful line at the end.

Or if, you know, they had a proper cliff hanger at the end

I don't even so much care about that. If you are going to end like that, you would think that they would end with a line better with "they are screwing with the wrong people".

Willing to bet somehow one of them(either Rick or Daryl) escapes, and get the stash of guns that Rick hid just outside Terminus.

Haven't watched since Season 3, and the show just turned into too much of a soap opera for me. Is it actually getting better? I've had some people tell me that it is, but I just don't know if I can go back to watching this show.

Still a bit of a soap opera to appease the women folk watching. I think season 4 was somewhat better than season 3 in some respects, but theres still too much fluff in between some good episodes. Last night's show was pretty good of course, as was the one with Carol and Tyrese a few weeks ago. Aside from that? A few good scenes stretched out across the last half season. They seem content to build to the season finales and the mid season finales rather than delivering a great episode each week.

Character Development = Soap Opera

I think some of you would prefer the show if they just made it an hour of mowing down zombies with an oozie. No character interaction, no conversation period... just dead zombies.

Uzi

The Uzi (Hebrew: עוזי‎, officially cased as UZI) is a family of Israeli open-bolt, blowback-operated submachine guns. Smaller variants are considered to be machine pistols. The Uzi was one of the first weapons to use a telescoping bolt design which allows the magazine to be housed in the pistol grip for a shorter weapon.

I don't know about "soap opera" but it does kind of suck, often. I wouldn't want every episode to be like last night's finale (which I thought was pretty good), but they still get bogged down a lot... which some people are fine with in the name of "character development."

I mean, look at Rick last night. He realized he has to be the warrior/leader ass kicker. That seemed to be developing his character in fairly quick fashion amidst some good action. Sure, they needed the "flashbacks" to do it, and it was set up by losing his mind and becoming a farmer in the prison. I just think they could accomplish these things a little more quickly.

Overall, I get just as frustrated with the horror movie conventions they stick with - people doing things that plainly are not in their best interest this long after the zombie apocalypse. Glen et al strolling into Terminus last week with no forethought was a good example of that.

You would think anyone that came across a place like that that wasn't teeming with people would be suspicious, wouldn't you?

You'd think.

Or just walk in the front gate and have a seat on the nearest plate.

They don't need an hour of mowing down zombies, but damn...some of these episodes have been 55 minutes of dialog /w commercials and 5 minutes of action. That's a lot of character development. Some of the action isn't anything to write home about either. Season 3 at the prison is partly to blame for that. There was a sense of security at times that made for lots of dialog and not a lot of action.

I could have done without the entire Bob/Sasha/Maggie storyline for one. It did almost nothing for the show imo, it almost would have been better if that group just magically showed up at Terminus and we had to wonder all season if they made it or not. What if we only saw Glen for that one episode where he meets Abraham, and he's desperately trying to find Maggie yet we don't know if she's alive? I think it would have made their reunion a lot better too. If people wanted answers on how she got there, they could always do a short flashback after the fact. Theres no suspense or feelings of worry about whether or not the group is going to make it to Terminus if you show each group actually getting to Terminus. Beth is the only outlier here since we don't know where she is, and I probably care about Beth just barely more than Bob and Sasha at this point.

Character development is certainly good as it makes us more invested in the characters and care what happens to them, but I think they're trying to get us attached to too many characters, it's watering down the show. Kirkman alluded that there may be a number of deaths in season 5, maybe that's how they'll compensate for this. Theres just not enough tension, not enough intense moments to keep you on the edge of your seat. They need more scenes with stuff like Rick ripping throats out, Rick hiding under a bed and fearing for his life, Mika killing her sister, etc. In the first season there would always be an intense scene precluding or following some dialog. Morgan tells Rick about the events leading up to the zombie apocalypse while zombie mom and friends are clawing at the door. Dale talks about his watch around the campfire just before a giant zombie attack that kills several members of their group. The women are doing laundry down by the river, Ed comes in and is abusive to Carol, Shane goes apeshit on Ed. Lots of action basically to go with telling the story. The only break in the action in season one seems to come at the CDC, and that break is fairly short lived before a huge finale.

Won't be able to watch this episode until late tonight. I obviously don't want to read the last few posts. All I want to know is what the general consensus was (thumbs up or down?) Thanks fellas!

Gah! Hope you didn't catch wind of anything then. Stay away from forums after an episode has aired! lol

General consensus is thumbs up overall, with a possibly thumbs down or "meh" at the end.

Have managed to remain unspoiled somehow. The only two words I saw on Twitter were "Rick" and "bite" but that could be a million different things so I'll be watching without knowing anything.

Rick gets a mosquito bite from a zombified mosquito. Madness ensues. There, I said it, you don't need to see the episode now.

I'm more worried about if/how Daryl gets his crossbow back.

My only question I had with the episode is who's watch did that guy have on in Terminus that made Rick know something was up?

Herschel's watch which he gave to Glen. They mentioned it in 1 of the earlier flashbacks.

No that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm all for character development, but not for the sake of dragging out plot lines unnecessarily. There was a massive difference for me with the show's entertainment from season 1 to where the show was when I dropped it (end of season 3). I mean if you think about what happened in season 3, the writers set up this great "war" between the prison group and the Governor, and then there is about 10 minutes of the sides actually attacking one another. The season ended with the Governor still alive which I thought was a huge mistake by the writers, and literally nothing was resolved. For me, that season 3 was pretty much a season of 2-3 plot lines that were drawn out excruciatingly slowly.

What happened in Season 3 in my opinion could have been summed up in about 3-4 episodes.

I think this show has a great premise and some of the characters are great, but the writing, again, in my opinion, is just horrible.

That would be an amazing twist since she's been dead for two fucking seasons.

Yup. At first I thought maybe he just "thinks" he has the answer when he really doesn't. Then, after I saw how he couldn't shoot shit, I wondered if it was all a ploy to keep himself safe by using Abraham. I mean, the CDC didn't have an answer, and redneck scientist has the solution?
