So this happened in Philly today not too long ago. No one injured, but still scary to me considering I am flying Saturday.

Wow... I'm at the airport about to get on a US Airways flight back to Buffalo. My usual layover is Philly, but this time it is randomly DC.

Safe travels you two.

You're still safer in a plane than in a car.

Multiple news outlets reporting that there is a strong likelihood flight 370 is at the bottom of the Indian ocean.

I would believe that before the terrorist hi-jacking theory.

Exactly. I dont buy a hijacking theory at all. I mean its almost been a week since it went missing. You would think that if it was hijacked 1 person in the world would have seen a plane that size land. So if that theory was correct, someone would have to build a landing strip for a massive plane on a remote island, and I am sure that there is technology involved in being able to search the islands for a landing strip.

We can only hope it was a tragedy. If it was hijacked and landed somewhere, we're dealing with some of the smartest terrorist to date.

Correct me if I am wrong, but if it ends up in the Indian Ocean, doesn't that mean that it was hijacking, automatically. Isn't that hundreds, maybe a thousand miles in the wrong direction?

And aren't their indications that the plane was flying toward checkpoints, something only someone familiar with commercial flying would know?

That's how I understand it. If that's the case, sounds possible that it was hijacked and something went wrong. Maybe a hero passenger(s) knew what was going on and decided to take out the terrorists and inevitably the plane while was was over the ocean?

Who knows. Would be awfully dramatic.

I mean, if there's no hijacking and the pilot(s) were having trouble, you don't change course to go over the ocean. You find a strip of land to try to drop down so at least it's possible to save some of the passengers.

Starting to think more and more that this was deliberate (by either the pilots or someone else), and not some electronic/mechanical emergency.

This is why I don't get why some people are throwing away the idea of this being a hijacking.

We know, per yesterday's news reports, three seperate communication devices were manually shut down on this plane. If it indeed went down in the Indian Ocean, it was several hours and hundreds of miles later. That screams thwarted hijacking to me.

Also, if it is on the bottom of the ocean, it's in the Indian Ocean, imo. The Gulf of Thailand has a max depth of 150 feet and boats have been scanning the bottom for a week. It's not there.

Starting to sound more and more like 'LOST'.

Can't imagine knowing someone on that plane. Unreal.

First, the data reporting system was shut off at 1:07 a.m., The Daily Mail reported. Then, the transponder was turned off, at 1:21 a.m., right after the Malaysian Airlines pilot told traffic controllers: “All right, good night.” Shortly after, the craft, a Boeing 777, changed its path and headed west — toward the Indian Ocean, authorities said, ABC previously reported.

These details lead investigators to believe that the communications devices on board were “systematically shut down,” ABC reported. U.S. authorities are now “convinced there was manual intervention,” and the plane’s disappearance is not due to an accident or malfunction, The Daily Mail said.

You're right. I guess what I should have said, is that I don't believe it was hi-jacked and they landed it in some secret location. Then again, if it was hi-jacked, why did they fail to land somewhere instead of crashing in the ocean? I know they haven't found it yet, but when they do I think it will be in the ocean.

Sounds like we're either dealing with the dumbest hijackers of all time, or the smartest.

Are you serious? Reagan is awesome.

Dulles I hate with the fire of a thousand suns.

I suppose I should clarify, its more just this area that I can't stand. It's like a sinkhole of hate; everything around it just gets sucked down.

Regarding Dulles, you guys are crazy, I highly enjoy the wildly outdated people-movers and super long walks/train rides to my connections. And they fly to all the major hubs so you can get anywhere with only one or more connecting flights! All they ask is about $50-100 extra dollars compared to Reagan. To keep you safe they even heavily monitor traffic on the toll road and give out liberal tickets. When it's snowing they even have one bus every 30 minutes or so in the parking lot, none of which offer heat and will leave you there if it's full.... What's not to like???

At this point I am very much beginning to think there is a lot we are not being told.
