Strickland 'Blown Away' By ND Offer

He has been waiting on the offer for a while and has been in contact with the staff. He is extremely happy with the offer says the history of ND "takes your breath away." He's in the middle of his track season, so visits will have to wait until the end of April, but says there is no doubt he'll visit South Bend. He isn't ready to go public with a top 10, but thinks "it's fair to say ND is one of my top schools."

The 247 timeline says he was at the Shamrock Series game last fall in Dallas.

The amount of elite talent that seems legitimately interested in us this year is amazing. I'd pay big money to get a sneak peak of our class at NSD.

OP must be confused. The Strickland's are from Arlen.

Good to see another big offer in Teas. I love the staff going after these talented young men. But our staff did a really good job putting us in favorable positions with some strong talent last year. Yes i know 2nd place is the first loser however i would rather be in 2nd then 10th or not at all.

Just watched his highlights. He's a must get for me now.

He's what I would wish Miles Boykin could develop into.

wow watched those highlights.

HUGE want for me...michael floyd 2.0...i really believe that

loves to block and can go up and get it

#1 Outside receiver threat on my board

kid's the real deal....LOVE the offense he plays in as well

p.s. whoever put this highlight tape together knows what he/she's doing....short to the point. shows him catching deep ball, screens, jump ball, double move, good comebacks at medium distance, and blocking....very well done

vastly underrated imo....if he's the #28 WR in the country according to 24/7 this year must be absolutely loaded at WR this year...#35 on ESPN no way

scout and rivals are a little better at #10 and 11 respectively, but man this dudes a stud....hope he wasn't just blowing smoke in his interview on how big of an offer we were

HUGE reps to whoever can keep us updated on this guy's recruitment....even his track season

Love the offer and excited that this kid is legitimately interested. I like your Floyd comparison. For me I put ESB ahead of Carlos. Carlos is more physically developed at this stage. Looks to be more explosive in his lower body because of that. However, I think ESB is a more fluid athlete. That showed better body control and ball skills. I would be extremely happy with either.

i gotta be patient with both of these guys....i want Carlos pretty bad and ESB is the real deal as well.

gonna be a long recruitment for both of them though and just hope we can compete with their regional powers, which we have been able to do lately with Cooks and Denbrock and now even hopefully with LaFleur

also with limited numbers i hope we're patient enough to wait on him too and don't rush into Boykin

don't get me wrong Boykin's a nice player, but imo this guy is on a different level

I think he is actually at a better place than St. Brown. I would take him right now. He is strong and physical and fast.

This kid is a recruiting game changer.

I could not believe how many defenders he ran past!

And blocking? With his speed and upper body strength, once he got into a defender, forget about it.

This kid's blocking has to move him to or near the top of the list.

Actually Strickland said he'd like to decide this summer and his reasoning was so he didn't get locked out of a program he liked because his position was full. If he is as high on ND as he says and he likes his visit, he might pull the trigger sooner than later.

This is why we keep you around.

I honestly wouldn't mind taking all three (Boykin, St. Brown, and Strickland).

More big bodied receivers!

I think we maybe take two big bodied wr's. Kelly loves the speed guys as well as guys that are solid route running possesion receivers such as TJ. I want at least one of the big bodies, of the Texas speedsters, and hopefully one of the very good possession guys.

I don't see anyway that we take all 3 previously mentioned. Unless we miss on other TE's and view Boykin as that, which I would prefer to have Clark. A small slot WR is a huge priority this cycle.

what's the #'s game looking like for the receiver position?

1 - TE (Clark my preference)

1 - Slot (not sure haven't seen enough to know who's the best)

1 - Outside WR (Strickland my preference)

I think 3 WR's and 1 TE is what we're looking at.

TE- Clark
WR- ESB, Humphrey Jr. And Newsome.

That would be mine. Kelly does seem to recruit best available quite often so I could see us taking 1 slot and two outside guys like Strickland and ESB. But I think the preference would be one at each position.

Of course the problem now, and what Kelly & staff is particularly good at is accounting for senior years, and long term potential.

yea officially a man crush for me....only half kidding

track and field results so far this year:

200m - 22.76

400m - 51.79

runs a leg on the 4x200 and 4x400....even throws the shot and disc a bit

not phenomenal track numbers, but not terrible either, especially this early in the year. not everyone has world class speed
