This game is kinda glorious...sunseri made Johnny football look foolish on that cut

When Bama signed Sunseri, we all thought "Great. A small, slow, 3-star linebacker who got his scholly because his dad's an asst. coach." Boy, were we wrong. Kid's a baller. He can play.

Didn't want to start a new thread, so I dug up this blast from the past.

Barry Switzer calls Johnny Manziel an 'arrogant little prick'

Barry Switzer ain't scared to share his opinion. And so when asked about Johnny Manziel, he got exceptionally real with his words, calling the former Texas A&M quarterback an "arrogant little prick."

Switzer, appearing on CBS Sports Radio 920 AM in St. Louis on Wednesday morning, said that he doesn't care for Manziel's "antics" and said he's "embarrassed himself."

"I'm gonna tell you. I said Johnny Manziel is … I don't like his antics. I think he's an arrogant little prick," Switzer said. "I've said that and I'll say it again. He's a privileged kid, he's embarrassed himself, he's embarrassed his teammates, his program. He's embarrassed his coach. And they'll all have to defend him because they have to coach. I know that. I spent 40 years in the damn game so I know how it works."

Well then. Those are strong words indeed. I don't know if Switzer thinks the phrase "arrogant little prick" carries less weight than it does (maybe it's a Texas thing?) but that's a pretty personal attack on Manziel.

Having said all that, Switzer LOVES the way Manziel plays the game and called Manziel "the best I've seen" and the "most dominant, dynamic college quarterback I've ever seen."

"He's the best I've seen. I've never seen a quarterback in college football take control of a game like he does and put up the numbers he does. It's fantastic what he's done against good competition. Game after game after game the numbers he puts up are staggering," Switzer said. "And when you watch him, you think he's a running back. You can't get to him, he's quick, he has more quickness than he does speed. He's elusive. You can't touch him. ... Strong arm. You watch him on film and tape and I've watched him enough -- the guy is oblivious to the rush. He lets you think you're going to touch him and then he disappears and he gets away from you and buys time. When a guy does that, guys are going to separate. I don't care how good you are in pro football, you can't cover for more than five seconds. Then they're going to be free.

"And Johnny Manziel gets the ball to people. He's the most dominant, most dynamic college quarterback I've ever seen."

Manziel, or "Fourth-Round Johnny" as he's known in Bristol, is as polarizing a player as we've seen come into the draft in years. He's got all the talent but off-field "issues" (which aren't really issues, per se ...) have people concerned about his maturity.

This offseason he's dedicated himself to becoming a better pocket quarterback and proving he's changed.

Ultimately all that matters is whether or not Manziel can play. He's shown that he can at a college level. There will be plenty of people waiting to see if he sinks or swims at the next level.

Our Browns will blow whether they draft JF Bridgewater or Bortles. IMO draft the one that will be the most entertaining and spectacular crash and burn, thats JF without a doubt.

I'm to the point where the Browns should just give up altogether on this 'draft a franchise QB' crap everyone is so caught up with... chasing that dragon is a large reason they are in the mess they are in ... just build everywhere else and try to get a FA or something...

smh

If my team is going to suck I would rather they just suck, not suck AND be a complete circus/embarrassment... Management is already doing a good enough job of crossing that line this offseason without adding this clown.

Although, ith my luck though drafting JFF is already a foregone conclusion…

How many QBs have won multiple SBs and were called "exciting"?

Elway and Staubach, maybe are the ONLY ones. The idea of a "franchise QB" is nothing but a fallacy. None of the guys that are consistent winners in the SB era would have been qualified as that coming out of college, except maybe Elway, so I agree that chasing the ideal QB is just silly. Build AROUND the QB and he will be successful.

Starr 2 SB wins
Griese 2 SB wins
Staubach 2 SB wins (2-2 SB record)
Elway 2 SB wins (2-3 SB record)
Eli Manning 2 SB wins
Jim Plunkett 2 SB wins

Bradshaw 4 SB wins
Montana 4 SB wins

If you include Brady and his 3 "wins", then you have 23 SB Ws from QB that were never really seen as true franchise QBs. 2 were Top 5 picks, Eli and Elway. The rest, not so much.

What the Browns really need to do is save those 1st and 2nd round draft picks for other spots they need, and then gamble on a QB every year from the 5th round or worse. Eventually they'll find their Montana and they won't have to pay him crazy money unless he actually becomes the savior.

This. All day THIS.

How many Tim Couch's are the going to draft before they wise the hell up... heck they ALREADY have the defense... get some weapons on offense so no matter who the QB is they have some kind of chance out there. Currently, with the weapons they do have, it doesn't matter who they have under center...

I don't know. Brandon Weeden isn't even Tim Couch worthy. At times I almost wish Couch would have strapped the helmet back on last season. Heck, he's not much older than Weeden.

Smh we have been playing this game since 99. I would draft a QB at 4 26 and 35. Just keep drafting them until you find "the guy". You need a great QB to win championships, not a great RT or a great #2 WR. I'll concede Clowney is a once in a generation type talent, and if he falls to #4 you almost have to pick him. Outside of Clowney there is no one i would take over the 3 QBs at 4.

The dumpster fire that is the Browns QB carousel has to stop at some point, drafting 5th round QBs just isn't going to get it done.

Edit: How many Couch's have we really had? Couch who actually seemed to be getting the job done and was progressing in wins every year. Quinn :'( who fucked himself with his hold out. Weeden who was just terrible. Quinn and Weeden where both taken later than #20, in years we had/or aquired multiple 1st round picks. We used 1 top 5 pick on a QB and it didn't work out, so we should never try again? Neither the 1st or 5th round QB is a sure thing, but historically the ratio of great 1st round QBs vs later round QBs is much higher.

Maybe they can trade their entire current roster for Russell Wilson.... I'm sure he'll do fine.

On the contrary. Drafting QBs in the 1st round hasn't gotten it done up to this point, and it has to stop if things are going to work out for the Browns. Granted, maybe one or two of those guys could have worked out if other holes weren't present in the roster, but we'll never know now. Right now the Browns really need offensive weapons, as ACamp pointed out, and maybe a good lineman or two as they're always proven commodities. Get the offensive weapons, then bring in a journeyman QB with experience that can manage the game. Don't look for a Peyton Manning that your offense will center around.

You can pick whoever you want with all 10 of the browns picks, if you don't get a great QB then its all irrelevant.

I would love taking a chance on a later round QB like Carr... and stock up on talent around him early rather than take a chance on an early round QB... in fact I always take that stance with QBs... it's too much risk, unless Andrew Lcuk, Peyton Manning or another 'can't miss' QB, and I mean REALLY can't miss... I am always passing on the first round QB... just me.

Here are the playoff QB's from this year and the round they where drafted in. The only one beyond the 3rd round is maybe the greatest diamond in the rough in the history of sports. Go ahead and waste picks on receivers that have no one to throw them the ball, and lineman that have no one to block for.

Peyton Manning #1 overall
Drew Brees 2nd (#33 essentially a 1st)
Philip Rivers 1st
Cam Newton #1 overall
Andrew Luck #1 overall
Alex Smith #1 overall
Aaron Rodgers 1st
Andy Dalton 2nd (#35)
Tom Brady 6th
Russel Wilson 3rd
Nick Foles 3rd
Colin Kaepernick 2nd (#36)
