Is he on record saying he would play defense?

Yes, STRONG SIDE!

I will continue this joke until I'm properly repped for it.

Is he on record saying he would play defense?

There was an old article (on the 1st page I believe) saying he was open to DE, but that he prefers TE. And most teams are recruiting him as a TE.

Alex Ofodile (yes the WR prospect) just put a Crystall Ball in for OSU.

Interesting. Every other one is to Mizzou or Stanford

Ofodile's original CB was Stanford FWIW. I'm currently on my way home. I'll see if anything turns up.

So he still doesn't have an offer from ND? Even though he has one from Alabama, Florida, Florida St., LSU, Texas, etc.?

I would be very happy with Chris Clark. I would be happy for Hale if he went to OSU. We do not play them and it would be a great place for him. I usually want kids to have a chance to be successful, even if not at ND, especially if we do not play them.

Who wants to be the next great TE drafted from ND? I have no doubt whoever it is, they will be that guy.

doesn't even seem to be very much contact between him and the staff.

wonder if that'll change...would be nice to see him in the "irish invasion" camp in June

OVERALL TRAITS
Size-Strength-Speed
Good height and while he may not carry as much weight as listed possesses adequate bulk with a frame that can still support more good mass and physical upside. Displays very good playing strength for size and good speed.
Separation Skills/Big Play Ability
Not great speed and doesn't have the second gear of an elite vertical threat, but prospect with some deceptive straight-line speed to challenge downfield. Needs to continue to develop as route runner and not overly sudden in and out of his breaks, but displays some savvy and ability to work through traffic. After the catch runs hard and is physical with good balance to fight for and pick up extra yards.
Ball Skills
Displays very good, strong hands and a confident pass catcher with ability to consistently catch the ball away from his body. Displays excellent body control and concentration to adjust to passes thrown off target and makes catches in traffic. Will go up and attack the football. Displays good ability to track and catch the ball well over the shoulder.
Blocking
Needs to continue filling out and making improvements technically, but a tenacious, high effort blocker. Needs to be more consistent, but flashes ability to come off and deliver a good initial pop. When maintains a good base and drives knees, can generate good push. When he gets locked on can be tough to beat. Gives good effort downfield.
Bottom Line
Hentges may not possess elite speed and needs to continue to add size, but in other areas he is very strong and possesses the tools to be a highly productive player. Tough, high effort blocker and a strong receiver, Hentges can be a very good and well-rounded college tight end. With good strides physically and technically as senior could contribute early.
Junior Eval
STRENGTHS: This is a very tough, sure-handed tight end who displays good effort. Shows good speed and playing strength. Displays a good feel for finding the soft spots in zone coverage. Has good hands and does a great job of catching the ball away from his body. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Not overly sudden in and out of his breaks. Savvy but route running skills can improve. Lacks the burst to initial separate and the ability to make defenders miss. Not always a smooth, fluid player. ... BOTTOM LINE: Hentges is a high-effort, versatile prospect with great upside. Will benefit from improved speed and additional strength. Could get recruited to play defense. Blue-collar player who gives everything he's got.

I just update the front page with offers and rankings. He has offers from every major school in the country. I don't know how the staff doesn't see what EVERY OTHER MAJOR PROGRAM SEES. The kid was begging for an offer and we're gonna pass when we can't get another big time TE this cycle.

Rivals: :s::s::s::s: #4 TE, 5.8 Rating, #150 Overall

Strange, and like you said, I don't get it.

Is what you said on the first page true about him committing if offered? Perhaps they're slow playing him? I hope it doesn't burn us.

Not anymore. I don't think there's been much communication between him and the staff anymore. He's been looking around a lot and it sounds like both parties moved on.

But yes that quote was from his dad early in the process.

I don't know if he'll be a monster in the NFL, but TE U could have prepared him the best. IDK what the hell the staff is thinking.

You should never let top 100 players who are an academic, cultural, and familial fit get away IMO. There are too few to just pass on them.

NO MENTION OF ND in other schools he likes

One of the nation's top tight ends in the 2015 recruiting class is Jefferson City (MO) Helias TE Hale Hentges, who is looking at many schools when it comes to recruiting.

He checks in as the country's No. 4 tight end, the state of Missouri's second best player, and the 132nd-best player in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Hentges recently took a visit swing through a couple of southern schools that included Florida State, Auburn, and Alabama. He really liked what he saw on on three visits, starting off with his trip to Tallahassee for the first time.

"I got to talk to coach (Tim) Brewster and coach (Jimbo) Fisher. I also got to see a lot of their campus. A lot of it was under renovation, but I got to see what all of the different complexes are going to look like," Hentges said. "Then I got to sit down and see how I would be used in their offensive like Nick O'Leary is used now. It was a great trip."

Next he made his way to Auburn, where he got to check out the Tigers' campus for the first time.

"I spent most of the day with coach (Gus) Malzahn. He just showed me around and I got to see the stadium and a lot of the campus," he said. "I met with coach (Scott) Fountain, which was cool. He's a good dude. I got to see all of the different things they do with their tight ends and how I would be used in their offense.

Lastly he took a visit to Alabama to take in their spring game. It was his second time in Tuscaloosa in as many months.

"I just got to hang out with the players and kind of see what they were like. I hung out with Vogler and OJ Howard and got to see what they were like," he explained. "I saw parts of the campus I didn't see the first time and met with coach (Nick) Saban. It was a really good visit."

In addition to the schools he just visited, he talks to a couple of other schools quite a bit, including Ohio State, who he visited about a month ago.

"I talk to coach (Tim) Hinton and coach (Urban) Meyer almost every week," he said. "I really like the tradition there and the things they're doing with their tight end and the great success Urban Meyer has had is great to see. They're perennial powers in the Big Ten. Really just how nice everything is. Columbus is a great town and I've enjoyed all of my visits there."

The Buckeyes are also recruiting standout tight end Chris Clark, but don't count on the two playing together at Ohio State.

"That's something I've thought about, but I don't really know (if we'd fit together)," he explained. "A lot of the time Ohio State just uses one tight end. It would be cool to go to the same place and I know they want two tight ends. If they were to get their two favorite tight ends that would be great for them, but for development it would probably be better if we went to different places.

Hentges also has a lot of contact with in state Missouri and is intrigued by the idea of playing for his home state school.

"It's about 30 minutes away. I grew up liking them and it would be really cool to stay with all of your friends and family getting to see you every week," he continued. "The big thing is a place that fits me the best and it doesn't matter how close or far away it is as long as it's the right decision."

He's not quite ready to cut his list down, but he plans on doing so before he school year comes to a close.

"Pretty soon," he stated. "Probably before schools is out."

As far as a decision goes, he still plans on committing to a school sometime this summer and would like to take a few more visits before making his final decision.

"I would really like to see Oklahoma and LSU again before releasing my top schools," Hentges said. "I would also like to go back to Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn, and Florida State."

Over the past couple of months, Hentges has developed good relationships with several coaches.

"I really talk to coach Hinton a lot from Ohio State," he stated. "I also talk to coach Fountain at Auburn a lot and coach Brewster from Florida State."

During the offseason, Hentges is working hard to improve a couple of aspects of his game.

"I think my technique with blocking could get better," he said. "Then I think my overall speed could get better too. Those are the two big things.

Set to announce his commitment tonight at 7:00 central time per 24/7. Kinda wish we would've got in on this one but we're obviously pretty set at TE.
