My two cents worth.

Kelly's salary may be middle of the pact because Swarbrick didn't want to eat a huge contract if he didn't work out. Knowing Swarbrick from his time involved in Indy, I feel confident in saying that he probably told Kelly that if there was continued improvement and certain criteria were met that there would be a new contract. The only reason Kelly would leave is because he wants the challenge. It won't be because of salaries. The coaches will be taken care of as well.

If it walks like a duck....

Too many services are reporting this for it to have not happened.

Those guys on here that said "this won't affect recruiting" (then AA leaves...and yes, this did have an impact) are probably the same people that keep telling themselves that Kelly won't leave.

I'd say, due to Kelly's silence, and his past, he's more likely going than staying. Because what about Kelly, makes you think he'll stay? Because we all think ND is the end all be all? News flash, that was years ago. It may be that way to us, but the NFL is still the NFL. The pinnacle of football. The top level. Not ND. Some coaches love the challenge.

I think it's classless to pull the crap that BK is pulling. Underpaid or not. And IF he leaves, it'll be a slap in the face after the bulls**t he fed us about ND being his dream job and such.

Regardless, he comes outta this looking bad. And I've lost some respect for him. Not to mention, like others have said, he's just given other coaches a recruiting tool....one foot out the door

As a Bears fan, I think the Eagles would do well with Lovie Smith. Philly has plenty of pieces in place to have a good offense with a decent offensive coordinator and Lovie's defensive resume speaks for itself. His tenure in Chicago was like Weis' at ND, both just kept trying new coordinators without improving the other side of the ball. In Philly, with a bit of offense in place, he can continue to build.

For those skeptical of this interview actually happening, know that if we have all been fooled (I don't think we have) then the entire Philadelphia sports media market has been fooled as well. Because they are all talking about it (among other candidates). And if you say that they're just part of the establishment as well, know that the Philly sports media despises the national media establishment. They pride themselves on their authenticity and their connection with the fans, and they're buying into the reports. Some are also believing that BK is only out for more $ from ND, but nonetheless believe that he has indeed been interviewed by the Eagles. I highly, highly doubt that the report of the interview occurring was fabricated.

Dammit but this feels like a real power negotiation thing to me in which the amount of actual interaction with Philadelphia is irrelevant, but the "leak" was necessary to push Swarbrick, and precisely because the awkwardness of the current superclass retention was a real issue at this time.

Instead of immediately stepping up and getting contract negotiations settled, press releases written, and brushfires stamped out, Swarbrick has chosen to play a Game of Chicken for a while.

If so... Dammit, Jack! Get your priorities right!!

I'm torn on what Kelly will do

Stays-

1. ND has been silent. I think this works for him returning. There is no way ND is not being kept in the loop about this. I'm sure Swarbrick has spoken with Kelly, and the longer we hear nothing the better odds of Kelly coming back. ND will not sit idle and wait, it will want answers and direction.

2. I can't see the Eagles hiring him. That'd be an enormous risk. But they did go for Chip Kelly...

3. I think Kelly will go eventually, just not this year. I will say I'd be shocked if he stayed for 5 years

4. Kelly doesnt need to bargain salaries for himself. He'd get what he wanted. Assistants maybe? He and JS could have conjured up this little scheme to get Alford, Diaco, and Martin paid big bucks.

Goes-

1. Timing. The timing is representative of a man that plans to leave. He doesnt care if the recruiting class is ****ed bc its not his problem.

2. 2 interviews. 1 could be for salaries, testing the waters...etc but 2 interviews means mutual interest.

3. Kelly went to Ireland (maybe) for 4 days. Seems like he is quietly doing some soul searching.

My gut tells me that if the Eagles offer, he's gone. But, I dont think they are going to be offering so for the time being he is here.

I also heard that Chris Mortenson and BK share an agent. Mortenson thinks BK stays, maybe hes got some inside info

BK was playing golf this morning at the Ocean Reef Club in North Key Largo. He was in the group behind a good friend of mine. He hasn't left southern FL much less the US.

This information has nothing whatsoever to do with his decision.

I'm a 97.5 guy, too. My allegiance started when Mikey Miss was head-to-head against Howard Eskin, and I was so glad to see Eskin knocked off the afternoon drive.

Even though I'm a 97.5 guy, my favorite radio personality is Anthony Gargano from WIP. I'll listen to that dude any time on any station about any topic.

He is much trickier than we all thought! He has a double here in the US playing golf, while he travels the world being an NFL coach.

Yeah really like Gargano to. One guy I can't stand though is Angelo Cataldi. My god he's awful.

Ah dude, that whole morning show is horrible. Listened to them this morning just to hear their thoughts on BK and it was painful just to listen to it while driving to work. I do not get his staying power at all.

There isn't going to be a second interview.

I swear, I'd love to do a deal with some of you guys! Are you unfamiliar with posturing? What good does the initial interview do (assuming the purpose is leverage, which I think we all do) if the situation is over as soon as he leaves??? After the "first" interview, he either takes the job, says he will have another interview, or he gets no leverage out of it.

I hear ya Rhode Irish. I believe the situation is just as you suspect. I'm just incredibly frustrated that I've waited 20 years for a season that we just had and I've waited the same 20 years for the recruiting effort that we've had this year. The guy we really want to eventually construct a statue of is playing this out. I'm ANGRY! There...I feel better.
