With his apparent interest and frame, a name to potentially keep an eye on. He has previously been mentioned in Tunnel Vision as coveting an ND offer. He had 15 sacks through his team's first 8 games this year.

The sideburns almost make you overlook the fact that he's a 6-5, 218 pound Defensive End. More than 25% of the running backs on our roster this fall weighed more than him... as did our kicker haha. Probably wise to stay in contact and see how much weight he adds, and if he keeps the speed.

from a PA newspaper

from a PA newspaper

His size (he plans to add 12 pounds by next season), speed (he runs a 4.68-second 40-yard dash), and strength (he bench-presses 240 pounds) have caught the attention of college coaches.

This past week, Temple assistant coach Tyree Foreman visited Frankford, and the Owls became the seventh school to offer Miller a scholarship.

"It felt good to get an offer from a hometown team," said Miller, who lives about a mile from Frankford High.

Miller also has offers from Arizona, Buffalo, Massachusetts, Old Dominion, Pittsburgh, and Rutgers. Coaches from Notre Dame, Penn State, and West Virginia have visited.

STRENGTHS: A high effort player displaying good quickness and lateral agility working down the line to make key stops. Long arms enable him to utilize his hands well to shed off of blocks and stay clean. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Recognition skills require further development. Needs to improve his consistency and technique to become a sure tackler. ... BOTTOM LINE: Miller is an athletic player at the DE position although he may be a better fit at OLB. A raw prospect with very good upside with improved skills and technique.

That may not come until the very end of the recruiting cycle if we are looking for another DE. With a small class, I dont see this guy being on too many "want" lists as it stands now.

IDK, Philly Public League doesn't impress me too much. He plays in the highest classification in PA (AAAA), but like I said the Philly Public League just doesn't do much for me. If he were in the Catholic League he might see more consistent high level competition. As others said, he's rather slim too for his height, so he will need to bulk up some.

Shariff Floyd played in the public league in philly. He turned out ok...Don't you think? If a kid can play he can play, does not matter which league he is in. 15 sacks in 8 games is pretty darn good in any league. I know the HC at Frankford personally I'll see what he has to say about him.

I think he looks plenty talented. He's a tweener though.

Per Scout: Offered by PSU last weekend. Will visit ND in March. He is completely focused on his academics and academics in college comes first. Good friends with Will Fuller and looks forward to catching up with him, still talks to Will's dad.

They are impressed by his 240 bench press? That doesn't seem strong for a defensive lineman, even for a high school kid.

I would have thought twice about if the article mentioned them being impressed with his sideburns.

@NDatRivals: Scratch Philadelphia (Pa.) Frankford DE Shareef Miller from #NotreDame’s junior day list. Looking to reschedule ($): http://t.co/Fwhe2gU6fm

Won't be able to make to Junior Day. Reason is brutal weather. Won't be able to come for Spring game either as he's participating in the NJ rivals camp. Will look to come in May or June.

hmmm, don't know what brutal weather he is talking about...he has really been high on PSU lately and could be just making excuses

Well I know that Chicago is supposed to get a lot of snow this weekend and it looks like there might be a large winter storm heading east of that too. Perhaps that's what he's referencing.

Loy's been on the road interviewing prospects for BGI. Todays update was from Shareef. Penn State has the early edge as Franklin has shown the most early attention. Even if Miller doesn't get an offer this visit (March 29th) he plans on returning this summer for camp in order to earn his offer. His mother said that academics will be priority #1 in his recruitment. If we offer it will likely come down to Penn State and ND. ASU and Oregon has also peaked his interest but probably doesn't go that far from home. Miller knows Will Fuller and his father. They don't talk often but are friends and he talks with Fuller's father. Will's father has said to Shareef to push himself. His exact words were "Push himself to be better than average." We brought in a lot of pass rushers last year so I can see and understand why the staff is being patient here but I like this kid.

kid's gotta great frame to work with

after watching the tape he would need a ton of work technique wise and his competition that he plays is HORRIBLE

Great first step off the edge, but plays very high and you can tell he relies on his athleticism heavily.

can see why the staff is skeptical to not jump into an offer. would be very interested to see how he holds up at a camp with bigger, stronger, and much more athletic linemen than he is used to seeing.

Scout indicates ND hasn't shown him a ton of interest but he still wants to visit (and will this weekend as noted by others). Also that he has work to do academically for ND.

Still interested in ND because of academics, tradition, and ties to the team/Will Fuller. Wants to get to ND for a visit. In some of his video highlights from camp he looks good. It was really no contest with OL that he was matched up against. At the same time according to Jake he spent a lot of camp standing around and socializing versus trying to get more work in.

So Jake Brown identifies with him then? They both prefer to sit around socializing instead of working?
