'14 OH QB DeShone Kizer (Notre Dame Signee)

As my kids were closely watching the school delays, when the "C's" came up it said something like Central Catholic Signing day ceremony delayed until 3:00PM. So I don't know what that means. I am sure they were going to have a ceremony celebrating DeShone's signing earlier in the school day, but decided to have it after the storm has passed through. Doubt it will delay ND receiving his letter, but I thought I would mention it.

Boom QB depth is shaping up. We have been waiting a long time for this. Congrats to Deshone for a great decision.

Kelly said of Kizer "Now we have 3 guys on campus that all do the same things, we don't have to change the offense." Also mentioned that when the game is on the line, Kizer wants the ball, real competitor.

I just shared that this afternoon with one of the people that promoted that series of rumors. His response was, "That explains the outfit he was wearing!"

If anyone is interested in sporting the pants or same pattern in shorts, I carry them in my store. Give anyone a great discount! They are made by Loudmouth, the company John Daly represents. Perfect for wearing at ND games.

Man, I sort of hope Deshone takes a look at the ESPN Top 300 rankings for the 2014 recruits. There are 21 QBs in there that are ranked ahead of Deshone, who isn't even in the top 300. This is a shame. Rankings, in reality, mean nothing. Still, I hope Deshone can prove 'em wrong!

Kizer gets taunted at every basketball game by EVERY student section, but he always stays very composed. He truly is a class act and I really look forward to following the end of his basketball career as his team makes a push for a conference title and states. It has been a fun 4 years and a privilege watching him on the court.

This may be a stupid question, and feel free to tell me if it is, but....

are you DeShone?

The good players always get taunted because people know who they are. Especially with a scholarship to ND. We had a guy commit to UK when I was going through high school and every game he went to, he was taunted because it was IU territory.

I mean, I guess there is no such thing as a stupid question.

I'm a Central Catholic alum. I follow all of the recruiting news regarding CCHS players so here I am letting you guys know that Deshone was a real nice get. Hell of an athlete.

You should be pleased. I happened to read yesterday where Central won the Three Rivers Athletic Conference in boys basketball, and was rated at number ten in the state, Division I. If that is correct, I believe my assertion that this was accomplished on the back of DeShone. Not just his athletic skills. This kid is a phenomenal leader. And by phenomenal, I mean off the charts. What a great kid, all around talented athlete, and great leader the class of '14 got! Just wait until these kids plug in.

From an intangible aspect, '13 and '14 are starting to leave the past classes behind.

Not to complain about '08 through '12, but what several had TJ, Tommy, Manti, Kappy, etc., is the rule now. The exception is the guy who isn't all in.

Not sure how DeShone is taunted but I recall Tony Fisher was treated similarly during basketball games after he had committed to ND. Ohio fans have little decency to those who do not pledge allegiance to the scarlet and grey.

Don't think it is that, or that is all of it. I think that this area is about knocking the big man down. I think they did the same thing to Jack Mewhort.

“We won a TRAC baseball championship last spring, then we won a football TRAC championship, and now an outright basketball championship. This is what we strive for.

The kid knows how to win.

Kizer earned third team All-Ohio in basketball this year. He helped guide his team to a 20-4 record and outright conference title. Great season for Kizer and his teammates.

Baseball season is right around the corner, which will mark Deshone Kizer's final athletic season at CCHS. Him and his teammates look to defend their conference title.

Good Lord, I'm really going to miss seeing this guy wearing scarlet and gray. But I'm anxious and excited to follow his career at Notre Dame!

Blake who?

My feelings exactly. Both Zaire and Kizer have four years of eligibility remaining. This is a situation similar to last year's running back recruiting. We can afford to pass on a quarterback this year. We have three quarterbacks on the roster, and all three have a better arm than our recently graduated quarterback. If BK can win 8-9 games a year with Tommy behind center, just think what is possible with Golson, Zaire, and Kizer. Add a quality quarterback in 2016, and depth will be fine going forward.

We could pass on QB, but I don't think BK wants to pass on a QB any year. Especially with what we have been through in the past few years at that position. We might not get a super potential like Blake in this class, but the good news is it's still pretty early in the process. We can still grab a strong QB prospect that will be a valuable body out there, and who knows, might become a super QB in the end. Like many said before, aside from the obvious disappointment of this event, it is fortunate that this happens in June.

Can we all please just agree that Kizer will not factor into the QB situation. When Golson leaves, Zaire takes over. After that, it's likely a 2016 QB.

I don't know man. I think he can be a factor. We will have wait and see. I have a hard time labelling any 17-18 years old kid with such strong physical tools and a good head on his shoulder to a non factor. The good news is he will have time to develop, and who knows what his ceiling is.
