Did you guys interpret the Coke commerical as a political ad for amnesty, veiled or otherwise, or just "America as Melting Pot/diversity" ad?

I just thought it was just a feel-good melting pot type of deal

I haven't watched a Super Bowl ad (at least willingly) in decades. They provide time to stir a pot of clam chowder (New England), a pot of beef stew (Denver), or slap together another cheese steak (Philadelphia) or Media Noche Miami) sandwich if I'm hosting a party or just to grab another beer if not.

I'm partial to theme food. For the Jets or Giants it would be pizza. For Chicago it would be hot dogs ... anything but that crap they call deep dish "pizza." The Niners is something involving sour dough. San Diego and certain Texas teams would be something Mexican. New Orleans is, hands down, gumbo.

Use your imagination. Fortunately the Vikings have not made it to the big game in the 3+ decades I've lived here. It wouldn't feel right or at all gracious to force Lutefisk on guests.

The obscene number of commercials and the ever expanding half time shows only make it that much more likely that I'll be drunk as a skunk and not be anywhere near aware of how the game ends.

dshans, what would you serve if the Browns ever made it back to the Super Bowl? I hope it would be something like T-Bone steak with a Great Lakes beer.

Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about that Coke commercial. I must have been grabbing another drink when it was on, just saw it for the first time. I think the images were fine, but something about the song being sung in other languages...I don't know, not sure how I feel about that.

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of the Coke one just for "America the Beautiful" being sung in other languages. The images were fine.

Well, first I'd place a very large take-out order with Tony Packo's. Not Cleveburg, I know, but close enough for my stomach.

I'd probably scratch together some Eggs Benedict since the first time I ever had them was in Shaker Heights during one of the many meals connected to my brother's wedding there. This was just before my junior year ('72-'73) at ND. Beyond that I only remember booze, booze and more booze.

Cleveland is near a great lake and a burning river, right? Maybe a blackened pike? Maybe even an asian carp sushi as an appetizer. Dessert is up in the air.

I did not see all of them and the only one two I liked were the time machine one for dorrito and the sixth sense one for Hyundai.

Going against the popular here, but I liked the Tebow commercials. Anyone that can go with the flow and poke fun at themselves gets a thumbs up in my book.

best part of theTebow ad...when he throws the pass on the Moon and you just hear the other guy say "Uh-Oh!"

They've got some great Polish kielbasa in Cleveland and, yes, Great Lakes beer.*EDIT

That guy who created/starred in the commercial is from a town 5 minutes away from me. I liked it, plus he is getting tons of press here in the papers and on Facebook.

Yeah, Pike would also be acceptable. The Walleye has long been a sought after fish in Erie, although I think they've been harder to find in recent years.

I forgot about the strong Polish community near Cleveland  I dated a girl from there who went to Xavier. Her church congregation was mostly made up of Polish decedents and there were a bunch of restaurants. Had kolachky for the first time there, and lots of pierogi and sausage.

Assuming the brewery is still operating when the Browns finally make to the the Super Bowl.

Not a good reason to hold your breath.

Not because of the possible longevity of the brewery, but the probability that the Browns make it to the Super Bowl.

I dated a girl who was half Polish, and her Polish grandmother would ply me with all sort of native delicacies. Pierogis, kolachi, kielbasa, halupkis (stuffed cabbage) --- all fantastic.
