Manziel = Eric Crouch
don't see the comparison at all....eric crouch retired because he was asked to play TE
eric crouch was an option qb and was a running back that could be serviceable as a passer
pass yards for season/ypa rushing
1998 601 6.0 459
1999 1269 7.9 889
2000 1101 7.1 971
2001 1510 8.0 1115

johnny is an athletic qb that can not only pass but run.....and just make plays....

2012 3706 8.5 1410
2013 4114 9.6 759

GAIII should have stayed another year and gotten his degree. Period.

ND is not a football factory designed to only produce NFL talent, but real men who are well rounded individuals whose education prepares them for life beyond the playing field.

Who advised him that he was better off without a degree and a job after school than attempting to make it as a UFA--because that is likely what he will be.

Too bad.

GOOD LUCK, GAIII.

I wasn't necessarily comparing stats, I was comparing outcome of their careers. He won't be able to do what he did in college. I just think once he takes off to run and gets hit by an NFL LB, it will be a different story.

The only mobile QB's that will have extended periods of success are in the mold of Cam Newton.

Vick, RG III, etc are examples. They are not built to be hit on a constant basis.

Just an opinion though. Who knows he may be the NFL MVP win 10 Super Bowls in a row and be the greatest QB of all time.

Does it drive anyone else crazy that "reporters" refer to him as Johnny Football?

No more than when Lebron is called King James, David Ortiz is called Big Papi, Kobe or DAT are called Black Mamba, or any other guy with a well known nickname is referred to by it. I really don't mind it in this context.

I love when players of position that my teams don't need come out early. Let others in front of the Steelers and Pats draft a QB and it leaves the cupboards more fully stocked in positions they will be drafting. With the Steelers at 15 and 3 or 4 QB's going high along w at least 1 RB ahead of their slot, there will be some solid players in positions of need to choose from.

That's what I keep thinking. Let crappy teams like the Browns (sorry Acamp) make the Johnny Football mistake. Meanwhile, my Bears will scoop up Tuitt as he drops.

Yep. Thinking the same thing earlier.

I'm not even sure the last time I heard a talking head or reporter refer to him, you know, by his name.

Da Bears only make wise decisions! Except in the draft or free agency.

Jonathan Football just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Just looking at a mock that has Tuitt going 14 to Da Bears and Louis going 15 to the Steelers. I could dig that. And yes, this mock has JFF going to the Browns.

As if "Johnny Football" wasn't bad enough, now that he is a redshirt sophomore and I guess an elder statesman, they are calling him "John Football", casually and "John F. Football" formally, I suppose. That was making my skin crawl during the bowl game broadcast.

If Nix goes to the freaking Steelers while Johnnydoucheball goes to the Browns I'd basically be done with pro football...

Cyrus can take his false starting, non blocking as* right on to the big show. But HaHa... he will be missed.
