Did not vote for Greg Maddux because he played in the Steriod Era. He voted for Jack Morris instead. He should have his vote revoked. If Maddux took steroids, I will eat my shoe.

Both Morris and maddux should be no brainers IMO...

The guy is an idiot and doesn't give a shit about the HOF. He's trying to get attention and we're giving it to him. He wins.

The weird part is that Jack Morris did play during the steroid era (he played till 1994) and from all accounts the steroid era was in full swing by then.

Not including Maddux is ridiculous. No way he did steroids, and his resume makes Morris look pedestrian at best. Not taking away from Morris, but the guy can vote for 10 people so it isn't like he had to choose between the two.

Is he going to be the only guy keeping Maddux from being unanimous?

Guy is obviously a professional troll. Voting for Morris or against Maddux are both pretty bad, IMO. But doing both should get your ballot thrown out and not counted.

I'm thinking he's trying to get pub for himself. No player has ever been unanimously elected, so if he's the one vote that keeps Maddux from that then he gets a week's worth of interviews around the country giving his "hot sports take" on why he didn't vote for Maddux.

Wait, Maddux was one vote away from being unanimous?? Is that certain?? How many times has Maddux been up?

This is Maddux's first ballot. I don't think that the final vote tallies have been announced yet.

All I know is that only one person left him off their ballot through the first third of the counted ballots. There may be more in the next two thirds.

Wait, so guys like Ruth, Aaron, Mays, and Musial weren't unanimously elected??? What a joke.

Yet another reason why baseball sucks.

Yeah, no idea how that happens? But I read that no one has ever been unanimously elected, so I assume that has to be true.

Bob Costas said he was one away this morning on Mike & Mike, but that might be speculation/I might have misheard him.

Usually a cour of blank ballots get turned in as well and if that happens this year it would count against Maddux as well.

Tom Seaver has the highest vote percentage and I believe it was something along the lines of 98.6.

Edit it was actually 98.8%.

Not voting for guys because of some weird belief or tradition like Tom Seaver having the most votes goes against the spirit of the whole Hall of Fame.

I have always thought Seaver being the top guy was just odd... That is a trivia answer that would get just about anyone who didn't know it ahead of time.

I believe no one has been unanimous since 1st class which included guys like Babe Ruth. Ricky Henderson was a guy a few years ago that no one could justify not voting for on any basis other than not wanting a unanimous selection. I bet Maddux is more than one vote short.

Not voting for the likes of Bonds, Sosa, Clemens, A-Rod(when eligible) is understandable. But to deny players like Maddux, Thomas, Glavine, Griffey (when eligible), and the likes is unacceptable. He should have his voting privilege revoked immediately. What a tool.

He wasn't the only guy to leave Maddux of the ballot; he ended with 97.2%.

16 guys left Maddux off the ballot.

Armando Benitez got a vote.

Baseball's HOF system is so flawed it's embarrassing.

Crazy how those Braves teams had what will turn out ot be three HOF starters and just couldn't get it done in the postseason... for the record, Maddux is the greatest pure pitcher I have ever seen.
