“@coachingsearch: Interesting development at UConn. One day after deciding to keep Tim Pendergast as DFO, I'm told Bob Diaco has decided against it.”

In my mind, it is an absolute guarantee that both O'Brien and Franklin will have new employers next year. Just remains to be seen who those will be.

Fisher and Briles appear to be front runners for Texas gig per 247. They're also saying that Malzahn is out.

How could you leave FSU right now. Florida is crap, Miami is slightly above average. Jimbo has put sooo much time into the football program I just don't see how you could bail. I understand it's all $$$$ but damn.

Agreed... whether he wins a championship or not, I don't know how he turns his back on another year with Winston. I think it has got to be Briles.

yes and no. I as in me personally dont think i could leave fsu. for jimbo to spend years as an asst there then get hc and after a couple years you are in champ with a returning Heisman. this is an ext. play on his part.

fisher could probably earn 5 times what he gets now at Texas right?

No. At absolute most he could make double. And that's assuming he doesn't get a gigantic raise after winning a championship. He's currently making a under $3mil/year (and will surely top that with incentives kicking in) and Mack Brown was making just north of $5mil/year. There is no way they pay Fischer substantially more up front than they were paying Mack... $6mil/year is likely the absolute highest I could dream it going and that's a stretch in and of itself.

Another possible factor in UT's favor is Fisher's son. Some local sports radio hosts last week were discussing the possibility of UT creating a research fund for Fanconi anemia, and Fisher has been very active/vocal in raising awareness of the disease and funding for better treatments. It could have just been talk to fill air time, but I also heard someone on ESPN bring it up earlier this week.

Wilcox to SC might not be final after all. With Oregon's DC retiring, they want Wilcox and are wiling to pay whatever it takes. Let the bidding war commence.

I have this image in my head of O'Brien sitting there with a phone in one hand talking to Holley and a pen in the other as he signs a big fat NFL contract.
