The place seats 54,000. 10,000 to ND, 10,000 to Rutgers. Who gets the rest? Are they expecting a sellout?

Additionally, the New Era Pinstripe Bowl has seen increased attendance in each of its first three years of existence, including a record 41,203 in 2012. This year's game will be nationally televised by ESPN, which has also secured national and local radio rights for ESPN Radio.

$20 to $35, depending on how close you want to be.

I'd say trains and transfers are just as much of a headache (if not more) than driving in the city. Plus, I dont really consider the Bronx to be "in the city." It's not like I'd be trying to find a spot in Times Square.

Interesting how guys from CA and OH take shots at the parking. Comparable to their football analysis.

When I saw the stay in CT and take the train comment I shook my head. Who goes to NYC and stays in CT unless somebody is putting you up?

Hotels too stiff in Manhattan try Brooklyn ... Do some homework.

When I lived in NJ we mostly drove into NYC and parked in a lot on the west side of the Harlem River and walked over the Macombs Bridge. It was easier in and out with the car. Sometimes we took mass transit, bus or tubes, and then north on the subway.

It's a day game! What's the rush? Were you planning on a Postgame table at the Backer? Linger at the stadium. Check out the Yankee's History. Savor the City.

i would have to imagine just due to the way the field is laid out that a good portion of the seats wouldn't be able to be utilized..just a guess

I'm not an expert so this might be inaccurate, but 54,000 is the "football capacity" per Wikipedia. Baseball capacity is 50,000 and they can actually add seats at field level in left and right field.

I won't be staying anywhere (driving down from Christmas with the parents in Rhode Island), so it doesn't really apply, but I definitely won't be in any rush to get out after the game. Is there much in the way of food / stores / things to do right around the stadium area? Can you get inside the old Yankee Stadium? I'm going to be there with my little sister so I'm trying to plan things to do outside of the tailgating scene.

West Virginia and Syracuse... I think it SHOULD sell out with the proximity of Rutgers and the fanbase of ND.

fun fact: pinstripe bowl is in running for the bowl game with fewest asst. coaches ever...so far Rutgers has canned a coordinator, OL coach and a qb coach...and we've had our OC and DC take head coaching gigs.

Another fun fact I heard on the radio this morning: When Kelly took over Cinicanatti after their season ended in 2006, he coached in their bowl game with 3 weeks of prep time and 3 asst coaches. They won.

Wow - this article is circulating in the Cincinnati area. Too funny. People are still mad at BK for leaving UC to take the ND job.

Notre Dame Refuses To Play Cincinnati Bearcats In Bowl - Riverfront Ball - Cincinnati Sports - Bengals - Reds - Bearcats

The butthurt is strong with these ones. Did you read their update?

UPDATE: Yes we know the Belk Bowl gets to offer before the Pinstripe Bowl. Yes we know UC accepted the Belk invite before the Pinstripe offered anyone. Yes we know the Belk Bowl goes to AAC #3. Did Notre Dame say anything official regarding Cincinnati? No. The article is based off of people surrounding the program and the overall feeling coming from the Notre Dame program.

So basically "this entire article is whiny bullsht but we're going to print it anyways because the internet."

It's funny because not only is the article nonsense and completely illogical conjecture (especially since Kelly tried to set up a home-and-home with Cinci...), but the author doesn't even try to support his argument with made up facts or "anonymous sources." He just puts the bullshit out there and is like "yeah... I know none of this makes sense.. but #yolo"

Belk has higher priority than Pinstripe, selected a better Cinci team, and you don't scoff at your bowl partners. The end.

If it's on the internet, it must be true. Bon jour!

I have read it a couple of times in trying to figure out how they came to this conclusion. I can't find it.

The comments to that article really hammer the author. Fact is, he provides no support at all for his opinion.

In fact, I would have preferred to play Cincy myself, because I always worry about a letdown when you play a team that looks to be over-matched on paper, as with ND playing Rutgers. A Cincy match up would have guaranteed Kelly's total focus on bludgeoning them with no letdown prospect.

The "allotment" is tickets the schools are required to pay for. Either they sell them like ND or eat what they can't sell and take the monetary loss for their value like some smaller schools do. It's part of the reason why bowl games are a money loser for many teams.

Excited to see what Cooks and Denbrock bring to the table and how the team plays. I'd like to see a little bounce after hopefully healing the last few weeks.

Lol they blew up the old Yankee stadium and honestly there is not much to do near the stadium. I would also recommend staying within a 4 block radius of the stadium.

Anyway I agree with bgif if you can't afford or find a hotel in NYC look for one in Brooklyn or Jersey City.

As for myself I live in CT and plan on taking the train to Yankee stadium. Metro north to 125th and then the metro north shuttle to Yankee stadium.

If you do plan on driving there is a ton of lots by the stadium, like mentioned above $20 to $30.

Man 15.5 point spread in New York on December 28th? I know Rutgers is bad, but this isn't going to be the Tommy Rees air show.

Is that you Mr. Atkinson?

Would the line be different in San Diego on December 26th against Rutgers?

Rutgers has done well against the run and poorly against the pass.

Rutgers Stats (out of 123 FBS Teams)

Rush Defense #4, 94.6 ypg

Passing Efficiency Defense #103

Passing Yards Allowed #120, 311.4 YPG

Passes Intercepted #97, 8 Ints

Yup. Expect another 300+ yard day out of Mr. Rees.

Edit: probably 2 picks as well, but it won't matter. ;)

Playing a 6-6 team? I don't get it. Notre Dame should've pressed for something more interesting than this. Why bother if that's all N.D. could get?

I would say that it would. The Superbowl in NY this year would be a prime example. I'm not saying that it won't happen but thats a lot of points to lay considering ND is famous for not running up scores on larger spreads.

Just given ND’s recent history it wouldn’t surprise me to see another teeth gnashing game for the fan base… at least those expecting a complete curb stomping…
