Considering ND plays L'ville next year, I was really hoping Strong's name would be mentioned more.

I think he'd be a great fall back option for Texas if the Saban rumors are false and Shaw/Briles want to stay put. I'd personally rank Strong>Briles but I could see why Texas ppl would be giddy for Art.

Anyway, I agree that Strong is probably better than Briles. On the plus side, Strong has a strong emphasis on defense, despite the fact Louisville is probably known more for their offense. I'm not sure Strong is a great fit for Texas though. They're probably going to look for a more established coach who has been a HC a bit longer, but then again...I think Brown came from North Carolina, so who knows.

I don't think Saban is leaving 'Bama. When you look at what he's built there, and the control he has, he arguably would not have the same perks at Texas. He would have more money unquestionably, but I don't think Saban is that worried about money at this point.

Brown getting ousted has been simmering for some time. Texas fans have been restless the last few years with the way the defense has under performed, and the offense has struggled at times. Unless they think or know that they have a Saban deal wrapped up, I'm surprised they didn't take Brown out about the time USC fired Kiffin. If they announce Brown's "retirement" now, they're behind a lot of other teams that have already been in the coaching search and have hired candidates. Of course, if there was any team that can make up the time quickly, it's Texa$.

I disagree. I think Saban would have as much control at Texas. If they're offering what has been rumored, there's probably some clear definitions of what he does and doesn't have control over and why would you pay the guy a king's ransom not to let him run things the way he wants to?

Saban's rumored poor asset management and investments disagree with you. ;)

He may need more money than he has at this point.

It's not rumors, it's a fact. There's an article floating around that talks about him and his wife's losses in some investments. It's public knowledge because of the SEC filings.

What if he is waiting to sign it until he gets back to town from recruiting?

I can see that, but it's being reported he hasn't even acknowledged the contract.

Creepy as hell, but you are legally required to file flight plans. LSU fans have tracked TONS of activity that looks a hell of a lot like Saban, UT, and UA bigwigs doing business.

Also, pics of Mack Brown speaking to the Bama AD last night...

Saban to Texas Flight Tracking - Crimson Silence 2013 UPDATED 9:00AM @ TigerDroppings.com

This is some hot ****, not sure how reliable it is though

Don't put too much stock in the flight plans. Schools learned a while back that in order to keep things on the QT, they need other avenues to get things done. Besides, a lot of these schools have more than one plane.

It would be funny if Saban goes to Texas then Alabama turns right around and hires Mack Brown.

Flight plans can also be made confidential for a limited period of time. ND did this when negotiating to hire Kelly... not that it prevented his hire from being an open secret in South Bend well before the announcement.

I noted the questionable reliability earlier haha, it's still kinda interesting to look at. The more important part of that link is actually this picture from Shaggy Bevo and the accompanying story from someone "with a relative who works for an SEC athletic department"

Mack Brown talking to Bama's athletic director (full head of white hair).

Why would Texas make a HUGE power play for Saban, almost literally breaking the bank for him in the process, then not give him "control?" I don't know if Saban will end up in Austin or not, but it won't be because he can have more "control" at Alabama, or because Texas won't offer him what he wants.

Smart people don't make moves/offers like that. Smart people with millions and millions of dollars at stake don't make moves/offers like that. If Texas is really going after Saban, they'll not only give him shit tons of money, but virtually whatever else he is seeking as well.

I agree. The picture by itself tells me nothing. The accompanying story -- I'm not sure I believe it but at least it tells me something.

Saban looks like Fletch when he was in the airport hangar.

He should. He is too good of a coach for a program like UConn.

Uconn is never going to be a good football program. Why go there.

Narduzzi was given an aggressive contract offer but not so much for assistants

He prefers the opportunity that is about to be presented to him in the form of D Coordinator in TTown by the end of the week.

Bummer. You always want coordinators to snatch up the vacant HC jobs. That's the only way the dominos stop falling. And shit is about to get crazy when/if Saban to Texas.

Narduzzi as Saban's DC in Texas. Kirby Smart as Alabama new Head Coach.

If Saban leaves and Smart moves up, I would take Narduzzi in a minute as DC. Same with the DC at Va Tech.

USC: According the Baltimore Sun, Steve Sarkisian has offered the offensive line job to Baltimore Ravens assistant offensive line coach Todd Washington. At this point, Washington has not decided whether to accept the offer. In other news, USC offensive line coaches Mike Summers and James Cregg are on the way out, as is linebackers coach Mike Ekeler.

Washington: According to the Seattle Times, Chris Petersen will meet with Justin Wilcox today. Staying at Washington remains a possibility for Wilcox.

USC: Do not be surprised if Sark lures Marques Tuiasosopo to Los Angeles. A source tells me at this point that it's more likely that Tuiasosopo ends up at USC than remaining at Washington

5 different coaches in the last five years - Roberts, Freeze, Malzahn, Harsin and now the new guy. Imagine going into your senior year if you redshirted. That would be rough

Its amazing they've been able to put together 3 great years in a row.
