exactly. and you never know what sports reporters are willing to dish out based on their "sources". it's easy to kick a program while it's down

Back to Juju; there is a crew of kids that have some interesting dynamics.

It goes Watkins is a good friend of Quick's. And Quick holds sway over Juju and Tyler, too. As much as I like, respect, adore, and would consider virgin sacrifice to get these kids, I really want who Juju and Tyler hold sway over. Damien Mama is the prize of the class in my opinion. IF ND lands him, they have an interior offensive lineman that probably would be an upgrade over what they have had, as he walks on the campus as a freshman. A) This kid is big, I mean massive. B) This kid has maturity and skill, elite athletic ability for a lineman, like few others! I want him playing on my side!

If we would get most of Watkins, Hendrix, Quick, Smith, Luatua, and get Mama, we would have a class for the ages.

Didn't ESPN basically report that Charlie was ND's fifth option or something of the sort?

if ND finishes the season at 8-4 or 7-5 does that kill our chances with smith?

Let me dust of my crystal ball for you...

Just messing around.

Obviously it wouldn't help our situation, but kids do make decisions on things other than wins. Look at Elijah and lazard.
This kid seems to have a great mind set and is very rational. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't come here.
I would be surprised if he didn't come here because of our record.

ALERT THIS IS FROM ESPN..SO TAKE W/ A GRAIN OF SALT

ALERT THIS IS FROM ESPN..SO TAKE W/ A GRAIN OF SALT

Official visits often leave prospects feeling warm and fuzzy all over for a good 24 hours after they have been completed, and then the decompression period takes effect and it’s onto the next visit.

JuJu Smith (Long Beach, Calif./Polytechnic) without question feels good about Oregon, but with all West Coast prospects I am waiting to see what happens with USC and their hire.

I wouldn’t read too much into how any prospect reacts from one visit, as down the stretch there is going to be so much that happens, including in-home head coach visits that can go a long, long way in January.

As for Smith, he is a difference-maker in our opinion, not too different from Marqise Lee when he came out as a player, who could be a viable commodity on both sides of the ball and where his heart is when it comes to what position he wants to play could have a major impact on where he signs. We believe a lean toward safety gives him the biggest upside at the next level.

Tom is hearing its ND vs USC.

Coaching hire will likely be huge in this one IMO

As if SC won't hire someone that doesn't bring initial hype/ energy...

Is there even a coach out there that USC could hire and it'd cause JuJu to just be "meh" about it? It seems like hype follows any new hire, regardless if it's warranted or not.

Obviously their current leader isn't making the cut for JuJu. If he was, then he would know the bottom line and any replacement would have to be better. Lets hope SC sticks with Orgeron (for other reasons too).

It was reported over the weekend (I believe on the mothership) that Sumlin was $C's primary target.

If Hayden wants to clean up USC, Sumlin is a bullshit hire.

IrishLax has talked to someone at A/M that said A/M players are being paid thousands of dollars under the table.

That is absolute Bullsh*t. Johnny Football gets paid over the table. Lax needs to get better sources.

Haven't heard his name much the last week or two, but personally I think that Del Rio would be pretty "meh."

Let's say Sumlin stays at A&M and SC loses to Stanford and UCLA to finish 8-5. If they can't get Sumlin, it's going to be tough to find a "home run" hire, there just aren't many huge names out there. Briles is staying at Baylor, Fitzgerald probably wont leave Northwestern and they're tanking this year as is, Petersen would be my only concern really if they can't get Sumlin. It doesn't seem like the strongest year for coaches coming up the ranks.

Del Rio was pretty "meh." But now that he is acting head coach and winning, mix in with what could be a Bronco SB and his name is hot as the sun.

He has already stated he will not leave the Broncos before the season ended and he must be trusted. Just like Snake Saban, I mean Coach Saban allegedly telling a recruit this past weekend that there is zero chance he leaves Bama for Texas. Coaches always tell it straight.

I agree about Del Rio, irishfan and ND2. What's his most recent accomplishment? Getting fired by the Jags. Woof. He still brings an NFL pedigree though which will fly in So Cal.

We would've had a better shot if Lane was still there.

Yes, USC's recruiting is a mess right now. However, any new hire usually brings with it hope and excitement. We may even have the lead now, but if he's a die hard USC kid, that lead will evaporate about as quick as flipping on a light switch with the new coaching hire.

The only way that doesn't happen is if at least 3 or 4 top coaches publicly rebuke a USC offer and the public is left with the impression that they are settling for the #5 guy on their list because he was the only one willing to come.

Even if this were to occur, see Tennessee, many coaches rebuked their offer. Butch Jones comes in and has the #2 class according to Rivals currently.

How was Lane Kiffen this early recruiting HR?... While SC was in the midst of all that Bush-gate madness to boot... I have little doubt that no matter who they hire, they'll see an instant upswing in recruiting.

It's USC, they will always recruit well. Pete Carroll wasn't a home run hire when they hired him

He had a highlight TD catch last night that help Long Beach Poly advance further into the playoffs.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/99-Y1uu53Go" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

He had 5 catches for 104 Yds and 2 TDs in an 18-16 Win
