So who is out on D now?
1) Nix
2) Grace
3) Day
4) Councell
5) Schwenke
6) Collinsworth

Anyone else I'm missing? I mean of those that started the year healthy. It'll be interesting to see what the extent of todays injuries are. Next week they may need to have lots of JJones and Rochell in the game.

Nix will be back

Discussing dropping Navy is like discussing a dwarf winning the long jump at the Olympics.

Ain't gonna happen.

In the past I would agree with you but I have a hunch that Kelly is on the same page. He thinks like that and I bet he starts to get more of what he wants. It won't happen right away but I would bet it's a conversation now, at least.

Well if it is we should be ashamed of ourselves. If Navy wants to play ND, ND should always play them.

Can't agree with you in this one. Love and respect what they stand for, just don't agree.

How about the fact that the team you root for wouldn't exist without them? I couldn't give a sh*t about it being "military". It's about the fact that we owe Navy a debt. We'll always owe them that. If it was Minnesota or Northwestern that had saved us, I'd say the same thing.

Debts get paid.

I understand, and respect what you're saying, (and yes, I know the history behind the rivalry) but I sincerely think that an 18 year kid has no idea of the history or rivalry, and HE'S the one out there getting cut blocked and hurt

Just the ****** cut blocks that option teams use

With you on that,... It may be made illegal soon, but that would basically end he option forever... Time will tell

I don't think Nix is even hurt that bad. Probably just soreness that normally he'd play through but as you may have noticed those cut blocks do damage over the course of a game and in this case two. Him bein the least nimble of the lineman he would probably be at the most jeopardy of injury. He's fine and will be back next week. That is opinion but he looked fine on the sideline jumping around.

That's what I was thinking. You can tell he was missed big time.

We owe them love, respect, affection, and all that but not a football game.

Loyalty had its limits! Let's stop playing the academies. Zero recruiting advantage, tough team that looks really bad when you have close games/losses to, and cut blocks encourage knee injuries.

Don't die for loyalty. Ask the violinists on the titanic!

Without loyalty and respect, you have nothing.

Carry on and keep the tradition alive.

Who knows how many recruits or their parents were swayed in part by an ND coach telling them about why we play Navy every year. It's one thing to add a Jumbotron and an entirely different thing to break a promise to a school that saved our ***. Opposing coaches would love to tell recruits about how we don't play Navy anymore even though we promised them we would.

You think opposing coaches aren't already negative recruiting against us on bigger topics?

The biggest reason I don't want to play option teams.

The cut blocking is ****ing ridiculous, and it's just a reason for undersized guys to play dirty.

Yeah we outweigh them, have more talent, etc.... But it doesn't matter when they're aiming for your knees EVERY SINGLE SNAP

Agree I sad this during the game. I know and respect why we play Navy every year, but it's not worth it to lose our dlinemen and lbs.

Is this "loyalty and respect" not a two-way street? Why is it ND's job to sacrifice the health of it's players to maintain this series? Why is the onus not on Navy to stop causing injuries? We had to watch that ridiculous "targeting" call on Farley (downgraded to "unnecessary roughness" almost change the game - in the supposed interest of player safety - yet Navy can take out 3 defenders in our two deep with cut blocks?

ND isn't indentured servants because of what Navy did for them. I'd say sustaining the series this long is a very noble gesture, but 6 decades is more than enough IMO.

I'm one of the biggest supporters to playing Navy but after today, I just can't get behind it anymore. There is just too much at stake to be having to deal with cut blocks. We sat out our best defensive player to avoid injury for crying out loud.

Listening to a little bit of the post game show and a point was made that Swarbrick said that it's important to respect tradition but also not to be handcuffed by it. Times change and things evolve; gotta evolve with it or it will be too late.

This is exactly where I'm at. Well said. BTW where do catch the post game at?

Don't talk about removing Navy from the schedule. Ironman warned me about doing so when I suggested it in the gameday chat in the first half of today's game.
