Football: Ranchview corrals Aubrey | Denton Record Chronicle | News for Denton County, Texas - Denton Record-Chronicle

AUBREY — Raghib Ismail threw an interception on his first play from scrimmage Friday night.

That was about the only time Aubrey managed to stop the Carrollton Ranchview quarterback in the teams’ District 10-3A battle. Ismail single-handily abused the Chaparrals’ defense, outgaining Aubrey’s offense by 13 yards

...

But it was all Ismail from there.

Breaking off moves reminiscent of his father, Raghib “Rocket” Ismail, during his heyday with Notre Dame and the Dallas Cowboys, Ismail repeatedly torched Aubrey’s defense with back-breaking runs in open space or through defenders. The Ranchview sophomore accounted for all but 29 of the Wolves’ (2-8, 1-3) 179 yards of offense in the first half, averaging almost 10 yards per touch.

Ismail broke off a 33-yard touchdown run on a designed quarterback draw at the start of the second quarter to give Ranchview a 10-8 lead early in the second quarter. He later added an 18-yard dazzler, making a handful of Aubrey defenders miss on his way to the end zone, to give the Wolves a 16-8 lead with 54 seconds left to play in the half.

...

Rocket Ismail’s son looked just like his dad and just pretty much took over the ballgame,” said Aubrey coach Mike Segleski. “We couldn’t stop him. They got going on offense and we never could get much of anything going.”

...

I thought this thread was a joke. This is awesome if ND can have a Rocket 2.0.

What really throws me off is that he doesn't appear to use "Jr." in any of the articles/videos I have seen . Him and his dad were at the ASU game ICYMI.

Hope he is, but hard to imagine he is as talented as the original.

I'm still bummed about the bogus block in the back against Colorado.

My son and I have the same names-not a big deal. No Jr/Sr/II. There is a 35 year difference, I think people can figure it out.

I thought this thread was some kind of twisted joke. Can we all agree Raghib jr is probably going to end up at ND?

I'm 33 years old, so do the math on that one... but if there is any ex-ND player that I would insist on having his son on board, player or not.... it would be Rocket.
