I know it's highly unlikely, but how effin epic would it be to grab this kid from Saban's backyard?

He's in Florida now, and most consider him a VERY soft Alabama commit. Looks like Florida might be the team to beat.

Tell you what... if we do get one of our frosh RBs to transfer, I think we'll make a serious play here. Otherwise, I expect us to be in it but for someone in the south to win out. Academics is also obviously a concern.

This is the part I'm skeptical about. Seems he has significant hurdles to pass before we would even accept his hypothetical verbal. Seems like A LOT has to happen here - like an unrealistic amount of things need to fall ND's way.

He's officially locked in for the USC game. Only official on the books.

Why does a lot have to happen?

Academic qualification appears to be a potential issue, no? Also, we're talking about a stud from Alabama passing up Alabama and the rest of the SEC for ND - we typically don't fair well in those recruiting battles. Not to say we haven't won some, but it's been the exception vs the rule. Also, we are stacked in the backfield and I don't see that being alluring to him, especially compared to UF. I hope I'm wrong, and if you know more, by all means..

Could he not play WR or ILB? Seems to have the size for WR already and could pack on more to play ILB.

Saban is recruiting him for Slot WR and yes he could play any LB position based on his size and athleticism. However, I think we're recruiting him as an RB and I think part of his flirtation with other teams is because he wants to be the RB in you know what I mean.

I was just curious why you said there was an academic issue and ND was still recruiting him hard. Most seem like theres a low chance of getting him and adding in a academic issue then I just didnt why ND was recruiting him haha.

You're telling me, he could be our very own Petey Jones?

Maybe I'm wrong. Is there not an academic concern? Thought I remember him changing schools for that very reason- to get his academic house in order.

high interest from ND, somewhat high interest (visit) from Bo.......

If academic,,,, the staff must not see it as a huge hurdle.

If depth,,, FL has the #6 RB this year, #8 last year + another 4 star,,,, Not sure about injuries as I haven't followed, but it's not like they have zero RBs with eligibility.

IMG isnt a academic institution. Its a sports factory. Its run like a college program and has a 'campus' feel, but their academics arent on a Private School level, and probably more challenging than where he was at.

If you are from Tuscaloosa and want to de-commit....you are going to want to leave Tuscaloosa.

TP, could you go ahead and just say if there is an academic concern or not, once and for all? Because I'm getting a ton of mixed signals from you on this issue and it feels like you're playing coy.

Haha. Seriously, TP, I had to read this post 5 times to make sense of it because it seems to alternate to a humorous extent between saying that academics at IMG are not good and good:

IMG isnt a academic institution. Its a sports factory. Its run like a college program and has a 'campus' feel, but their academics arent on a Private School level, and probably more challenging than where he was at.

Sports factory ... so bad academics?
College program ... so good academics?
Academics not on a private school level ... so bad academics (since it is a private institution)?
More challenging than where he was ... so good academics?

So I can't tell but if I try to resolve the conflicts I think you are saying that he doesn't have an academic issue, that the academics at IMG are just fine and he went there not because of academics but to get out of Tuscaloosa. How's my aim?

The prevailing thought on why Bo left Bama isn't academics. Bo transferred from his old high school Northridge to Tuscaloosa County HS during the summer. Many thought it was because Nick had asked him to play slot WR and Tuscaloosa County HS had just gotten a pocket passing QB to transfer in as well. The Alabama High School Athletic Association apparently stepped in (still nothing confirmed) and ruled Bo's transfer as not a bona fide move making him ineligible to play in the state this fall. The academic issue arose when Bo was initially interviewed and said the reason he transferred from Northridge to TC was that he wanted to concentrate on academics more his senior year and thought TC offered a better chance to do that - most didn't buy that however as TC is no different than Northridge academic wise.

Bo then heads to Florida and IMG. It has since been speculated that Bo may have some issues with his academics but nothing has been confirmed. At this point, I don't think anyone knows but the fact that he is still being recruited by everyone is a good sign in my opinion.

Notre Dame's chances with Bo? I would say a long shot. If he goes anywhere besides Bama it would more than likely be Florida. But who really knows with the minds of these recruits these days. An OV can't hurt the Irish's chances but it would be one of the biggest recruiting surprises this cycle if he did end up in SB.

This kid is a stud dont get me wrong, but we have six scolarship running backs next year if I'm not mistaken. That being the case I would easily trade this recruit for a stud linebacker and or a couple of solid four star cornerback prospects. Another QB would be a good idea in my opinion as well.

Yeah, but how many of the 6 are elite? 0 have proven themselves as NFL caliber backs, a few still have potential to show that.

Also, Bo has potential to be a ridiculously awesome and athletic ILB. Saban apparently started recruiting him as a receiver. So he's more of an ATH than a pure RB. I think he's one of the most important recruits legitimately left on the board... but he's certainly a long shot at that.

I love the staffs approach to athletes. Get them on campus, let them run around, and then decide where they go based on certain traits they exhibit.

All of this. Long shot but if we landed him ... man, he could be a program-changing playmaker whether he plays offense or defense.

If he's cool with playin linebacker great. If he is dead set on playing running back we have higer priority needs in my opinion.
