Sorry just needed somewhere to vent but they just announced Ben Affleck as the new Batman!!! Ben Affleck!!! Daredevil was bad enough!!!! Rather have George Clooney back!!! Come on!!

I'm not a fan of either (its not that I don't like them, I respectfully just don't care. I don't watch them) but that made me laugh. Thats just stupid. There is a long, very long, list that would have been better for the role.

Well, if directors actually follow the original comics there isn't a lot of room for originality.

But if you're Joel Schumacher (director of Batman Forever and Batman & Robin) who the **** cares! Just make Bane a subordinate to Poison Ivy and disregard that he was a primary villain in the original comics.

I'll have to wait and see. I hope he does the part justice though. He's been in stuff that makes you say, "Why would they do this?" and stuff that makes you say "This should be great".

I don't get all the hate? The last few movies aflek has been in/directed have all been phenomenal. I think his acting has really taken a step forward. I blame the daredevil debacle more on the comic book movie genre being in its infancy, rather than aflek a performance which was pretty par for the course in that turd.

The genre was in its infancy?? Really?? With 3 Batman movies, 4 Superman movies and at least one, maybe 2 Spider Man movies? That does not include TV movies, either, which admittedly were horrible. But that is a stretch to blame the horrible acting by both him and his wife on the "infancy" of the genre.

Nah, Affleck was just flat out terrible. He is NOT a good lead actor UNLESS he is acting in Boston or the story revolves around Boston.

If they make a JLA thing like they did with the Avengers, oh boy, Ben BETTER not be in that either.

The only time Superman/Batman team works is in animation, particularly animated movies. Even the animated JLA movies are bad-***.

Yeah batman is actually going to be a supporting character in the movie. Its still a superman movie.

Also Affleck will do fine, comic book fans are so fickle. People haven't seen the movie and they're already calling it terrible

Its an old comic, that why people assume its going to about them fighting. The story will go like this, they fight each other and then a greater evil will take over( lex luthor) which will force Superman and batman to work together.

This batman is going to be a little more fantasy based, so he will be able to do things the Christopher Nolan batman couldn't. Plus he will probably acquire some kryptonite

Batman would take down Superman, unless it was impromptu fight. He'd have the resources to acquire a little Kryptonite, game, set, match. If they meet on the street, no prior preparation, Batman is screwed.

Sorry I should have added "as we know it" there was tremendous boom in quality and quantity of comic book movies after batman begins came out. Everything before that was not nearly as down to earth as we expect comic movies to be now. If you look at the comic book movie from around the time of daredevil they are all pretty cringe worthy. Off the top of my head catwoman, electra, superman returns, blade, Constantine, fantastic four, schumachers batmans, all where garbage, I would lump daredevil in with those.

Argo had nothing to do with Boston.

I thought Constantine was really good although I never read the comics. One of my favorite movies. That and Watchmen.

Affleck is a god awful actor. Yes, he gets some props for directing (actually only GWH and Argo) but that's about it.

He was the main character, but I would say Argo was good kor e because if his directing rather than his acting.

The Company Men was good, and Affleck was good in it. Also, Affleck in Dazed and Confused might be the best 5 minutes in that movie. Then Chasing Amy and Good Will Hunting were good and he was solid in those.
