Bryant/Hood = Ball/Clay at Wisconsin

I really think Montee Ball is the best player comparison for Bryant. At the Combine Ball measured in a 5'10" 215lb. Bryant right now is 5'10" 205lb and will probably top out at around 215lb. Ball runs extremely hard with some power, is very quick, but lacks top end break away speed, just like Greg Bryant. Ball clocked a 4.65 40 at the combine and a 4.50 40 at his pro day. Bryant I think has similar top end speed to Cierre Wood.

John Clay is a ok comparison for Hood as a college player. (I think Michael Turner is the best comparison personally). Hood like Clay is a power back but IMO Hood is way more physically talented than Clay. Clay runs like a 4.75 40 and was 6'1" 230lb at his combine (probably up to like 250lb now). Hood is already 6'0" 220lb and runs around a 4.50 40 as well as having great hands for a "power" back.

Bottom line is that with the OL we have coming in over the next few years these two have a chance to be really really special.

If Bryant gets of to a fast start this year, he could distance himself from Hood in the future RB stable but if he isn't able to break through much past Atkinson/McDaniel/Carlisle that could benefit Hood (especially if he becomes an EE)

I just think Greg has the vision and the feel of how to be a running back, how to read and setup his blocks...but what do I know

I think the stable will be crowded in 2014 regardless of Bryant. Meaning, it will be hard for Hood to overtake three of the five (Seniors - Atkinson and McDaniel, Junior - Carlisle and Sophs - Bryant and Folston) to get into the top 3, which is really all the main stable can handle. After 2014 though, the stable is Bryant, Folston and Hood.

If Hood EEs, he could find his niche in 2014 as the goal line back.

Elijah Hood, Charlotte Catholic, RB, 6-0, 200
The Player of the Year by the Charlotte Observer, Hood was one of the leading rushers in the nation last year as a junior with 3,309 yards on 278 carries with 47 touchdowns. He'll play for Notre Dame next year.

They have him listed at 200, but he's really 222.

You know, because this thread was bumped, I went back and watched his tape. I can't believe we didn't see him as the "Hood ornament" much earlier; and I don't know, it seems like he is playing against some size, speed, and athletic ability. I don't believe his competition is as bad as others I have seen.

That tape is straight beast mode. The agility with jumping over guys, cuts etc. combined w/ just straight flat-backing fools has me super pumped for this kid.

Now, I know, I know, he is still in high school....BUT...He reminded me a lot in that tape of my favorite all time ND player/RB wearing #6 bouncing off fools, trucking guys and hurdling them on the way to the crib. The Bus.

There were a couple plays where he even emulated the bowling ball mode the Bus used so effectively. But I like that, Hood Ornament; just bring the rest of the Bus!

umm a Elijah Hood update on the Miami 247 board: RB Elijah Hood Update

What's up with this any 247 guys?

Funny update, basically Miami has been picking up interest alot lately and has been trying to contact him. The Miami writer asked him if there is mutual interest and Hood told him that Miami's time is better spent elsewhere and he considers Miami a rival.

Miami is trying to make a move. Have turned up the interest. When the Miami 247 guy talked to him, Elijah said their time would be better spent elsewhere. Elijah views Miami as the enemy.

Miami has turned up the interest? Or vice versa?

Haha that's awesome. Elijah is the man

Why would Miami be trying to flip him when they have Yearby and would have a better shot at flipping Cook or Michel.

That might be one of my all time favorite updates.

And I kind of respect the Miami posters for their reaction to Elijah's response
