Plus, Redfield was the only safety in the 2013 class.
I would say that Butler is a hybrid CB/S.

You mean to tell me that all receiving records are not gonna get broken every 4 years? ****I sure hope you do not expect a Floyd like WR with every class. You will be disappointed quite often if that is the case.
I am very pleased with this WR class. There will be a lot of passes caught from this group.
1 -- Floyd wasn't "Floyd" before he was Floyd
2 -- You are quick to acknowledge the WRs of 2013 may not pAn out but in the same breath, Max is automatically Better?
I'll happily wait until I see that the staff actually wants SuperMax on offense, in which case I'm sure that an athlete of his quality will be productive. But to say that our current 2013 crop of WRs is less than stellar is, in every estimation that I've heard about them, just not true. Onwualu and Robinson may easily play as frosh --- even Daniels did not do that. Fuller and Hunter both have widespread praise.
One other thing: Kelly is going increasingly Big at "WR". His offensive passing strategy seems to be an analog of "three yards and a cloud of dust" rushing football --- go Five Big Wides and either wall off the smaller defenders of block their brains out. In that sort of scheme, power/ size specimens like Robinson and Onwualu become even more "fit" for what he's doing. [And, yes, I know that Coach is no extremist and will happily feature Floyd's and Tate's, even TJs when he can get them {as he has just done with Brent}].
Cheers and all the best for Max wherever he lines up.

While I agree with your opinion that Redfield will not play offense this year, your logic is really flawed. If the staff's game plan called for Redfield to play offense in a certain week, they would simply change his number.
Great point. We are seeing more TEs lining up in the slot, C.J. Prosise has moved to WR ... physical WRs are all the rage at ND right now.
Agreed, but TJ Jones made a big case for the skinny guys in the NC.
I'm sure it's been mentioned before but Max really reminds me of that U$C safety that Golden Tate flattened while going into the end zone. His name is eluding me right now. I hope he stays at safety.
Taylor Mays
Taylor Mays
Hopefully he isn't a liability in coverage like Mays was.

I met Rey Maualuga and Taylor Mays at a bar one night after a Reds game last summer. I literally had been watching those clips of Mays and Tate earlier that day. Told Mays this (and that I was a current ND student.) He remembered the plays in detail. Was very humble about it haha. Rey then bought me a shot. Chill guys. Oh and Rey's arm was about the size of my waist.
Golden Tate was probably the best pure, natural athlete that I can remember playing for ND. That play was just awesome.
Some of those catches where his hands clamped the ball like a darn vice and came down with it while people did chin-ups on his arms were just insane. But his best trait was his balance. People always got a rude awakening trying to tackle him as if he was a typical 190 pounder. He dragged people almost every catch.
coach kelly said in interview today Redfield could play offense as well as defense.
might be something to watch keep an eye on
Does this say more about our serious talent at safety, or Redfield's serious talent at offense?
Think it also has to do with what Kelly was saying about trying to get all the athletes the team has now on the field in whatever fashion possible.
Including Keivare in the slot? No info but I could see it if things happen..
