At first I thought he might have meant where his next visit is likely to be.

If this is correct its great news.

per 247 really likes NDs tradition, Coach Denbrock, and our offensive and defensive game plan. Possible snag in his recruitment is ND wants him for D and he wants the option to play both

anyone telling him he will play both ways is just telling him whathe wants to hear.

I don't get this. How many genuine two-way players have there been recently? Other than Owen Marecic, I can't name any. Yet every year, several 5:s: skill recruits aspire to do it.

It creates a window for unethical coaches to blow smoke up Juju's as$, but that's about it.

If he truly wants ND then he will look past it.

I don't think he necessarily wants to play both ways, he just wants to be recruited as an ATH. He switches back and forth which side he prefers

I don't see any problem with telling a kid his first look will be on D and when he gets the play book down you'll give him a look on O too. As long as you are honest and tell him if you think it might be too much over a full season you are at least giving him a CHANCE at it. It would all be up to him if he can be conditioned enough, know the full play book, and not have his game suffer either way.

If this is the case, you can't fault the kid. And you can almost put some blame on the staff for handling his recruitment as defense only. Especially, when this staff is notorious for moving people around. See Prosise, B-Jax, Russell, Farely, Niklas, etc. Recruit the kid as an ATH. Get him on campus. Then figure out where he fits best based on skill and need.

But don't we tell all our skill recruits something along those lines already? "We'd like to start you at X initially, but if that doesn't work out, you'll definitely get a shot at Y and Z." We can point to several guys on the current roster as examples (Prosise, Russell, Farley, Jackson, Collinsworth, etc.)

well also just like the current case with Redfield. Staff said if he gets the defense down they will give him some reps at the receiver position.

...kind of like do your homework and your parents will let you go out and play then.

I've got one for you, although it would be a bit of a stretch to consider his career recent (unless you're DShans). He was lagendary in Central Mass during his years at HC.

damn it Kelly! Just tell him he is an athlete and once he is on campus will decide which side of the ball he plays on.

Had a similar article with ISD as 247, added UCLA to his favorites on top of that list but still no USC.

Color me pleasantly suprised.

Irish a Favorite For Smith

“Notre Dame is really high with me,” Smith said after Monday’s first practice session at The Opening. “For them to be the first official visit that I set in stone is really good. If you’re one of my top offers and I have you as an official visit this early in the season - it’s rare for me to do that. That should tell you how I feel about Notre Dame.”

The Long Beach, Calif. native has checked up on the Irish and likes what a diploma can mean for his life after football, whether that involves playing on Sundays or not.

“It’s a great school that I did my research on,” Smith explained about Notre Dame. “Academics are really good and they graduate about 98 percent of their players. Some go to the NFL, but everyone graduates and gets a degree – they have a life they can provide for their families, which is something I really want to have in the future.”

“The tradition out there is really strong too,” he continued. “That’s another thing I really like about them and want to be a part of.”

I like what I'm hearing, I just hope it's an honest interest and not some rouse to get U$C to offer him.

i wish more recruits would understand this, you can use your scholarship to provide for your family WITHOUT neccessarily going to the NFL. You pick ND, graduate and get a job bringining home over 100k per annum then your family will be just fine.

Was a little surprised to hear ND was that high up for him. This kid would be a huge pick up for ND.

He has a USC offer. Was offered in February by the condoms, but apparently had the offer since grade 9 and didn't even know it.
