I think 11.1 is plenty fast for a safety. You don't need to be the fastest guy on the field for that position.

He's being recruited as a CB/S. After watching tape on him he's plenty fast to play BCS caliber football.

I wouldn't get caught up in his 100 time. It seems plenty fast enough for what he will do in college and track speed doesn't necessarily equate to on the field football speed.

Finished 4th in State Meet in the 100 at 11.1

Won state championships in:

4x200: 1:28.04

4x100: 42.71

Lowest level of competition of track in Ohio btw

Did he end up running the relays? Last I had heard on local radio, he was pulling out of the 4x100 and 4x200 (I think it was the LCC AD on the radio station saying this).

I heard they won, but never heard if he actually ran it.

he pulled out of the open 200, but he ran prelims in both relays when I was there Friday morning.

he's listed on the final results as well as running in the relays on Saturday morning.

The Mike Edwards commitment to Kentucky this afternoon takes them off West's list for consideration IMO. He has stated he wanted to play with Edwards and be a package deal but that was before the Irish offered him.

So he wanted to play with Edwards, and Edwards has now committed to Kentucky and that decreases kentuckys chance for west? That makes no sense unless I don't understand this right.

Not following your logic. A ND offer shouldn't change the fact that he wants to play college ball with Edwards. He just has a harder decision to make now.

Yeah... maybe that didn't come out sounding right. It was widely reported that West wanted to play with Edwards but then the Irish offered. West was originally going to commit to Kentucky last week and Edwards this week. Since West delayed I believe he will now pick the Irish. It was rumored all along that he wants to go to ND. I think he will commit after his upcoming visit. Sorry for the poor choice of words in my other post.

I agree West's tune changed with the ND offer, but we shall see. I would not be surprised if he went to Kentucky. Kentucky/Stoops is doing some real work recruiting.

Big Blue Nation, BBN

Commit watch is more for Matt Elam (big DT), but they have several kids on campus so really it could be a couple of them. Another WR as well.

“@JEdwar247: Darius West and Mike Edwards just met with Vince Marrow and Mark Stoops again. One Wildcat walked in, two walked out.”

That's a bummer, without even visiting. What type of education does one get at Kentucky? Because there football program is ****!

Good luck to him but I just don't get these kids committing with visits a week away already set.

Not insinuating anything happened here but both committed to an SEC school right before visits to ND, smh

Did we just get beat by Kentucky for a recruit? Wuuuut?

They have 14 commits and a solid top 10 class, if not top 5 at the moment with a couple more prospects leaning their way. They may beat Bama for Matt Elam too.

Not really, we were late to the game. We will still get our recruits

9 analysts just put in a Crystal Ball prediction for ND.

That escalated quickly

This is not at you STL... I appreciate your work here, but times like these are exactly why I give less than two shits about "The Crystal Ball"

And this.

Tennessee and Kentucy are beating some of the big dogs for recruits right now, we'll see how things stand when they both get stomped this year

Meh. We flipped Nick Martin from UK late in the 2011 cycle. If the staff still wants him come December, things could get interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if we're in with better targets after a strong season anyway. DB certainly isn't a position of need in this class.

Bottom quartile for African American recruits.

Its that good of a class so far? IMO i dont see them finishing near that high, i think as the process plays out theyll lose a few and miss out on some down the stretch. I cant see why anyone would want to play football for "BBN" with their pathetic football fanbase. Not a fan of UK but none of their fans i know care about football the least bit, theres just no support for that program. They only care about basketball. On top of that it will be hard to pull a great class if they get throttled by most the SEC teams this year, but we'll just have to wait and see.
