My only issue was that they didn't have any secret Targ theories in there...

The only arguably objectionable piece I saw was the use of Young Griff's portrait for Aegon. Aside from Jon Snow and the Lannister children, which potential secret Targs were left out?

I was just being facetious. Varys and any other remaining Blackfyre heirs would be the only other secret Targ theories I can think of.

And I know you're with me that Griff isn't who he seems to be. I'll still be cheering for my namesake even if he is a Blackfyre.

The way they did the Red Wedding in the show really shat on the "Jeyne is actually pregnant theories."

People who hadn't read the books are freaking the eff out.

Yeah, so was that disconnect between Cat and Jaime's descriptions of Jeyne just a mistake by Martin, or just a difference in their views on the female body?

I'm guessing they do the Purple Wedding to open the next season. It'd be a nice way to end this one though too... hmm
thoughts?

I'd rather them open next season with Joff's wedding to get things started with a bang. I remember there being expansive plot development between the two weddings though, so it could be difficult for the writers to work out.

think the resurrection will be next season or in the finale?

I thought it wasn't revealed that Cat was Lady Stoneheart till the very last chapter of the book, so I would imagine next season. However, showing her resurrection early wouldn't really mess with the plot at all so I wouldn't mind seeing it next week.

I would assume the Purple Wedding would be in episode 3 next year to give enough time for Tyrion's trial and escape and great just killings.

I'm pretty sure that'll be the hook at the end of next week's finale. Beric finds her on the banks of the Red Fork, gives her the Kiss of Life, Cat's eyes open, roll credits. They're not really set up for any other hook right now.

Wish they hadn't changed the way the Freys killed the Stark men feasting outside-- sit them under tents, get them really drunk, collapse tents, and stab everything that moves underneath. Clever, and would have been more interesting than just showing a couple Frey guys slitting throats at trestle tables.

Agreed completely, with both parts of this post.

Still greatly enjoying this season. I loved tonight's episode, and they definitely went for shock value. Martin set the tone with more of a sense of dread; would have liked to have seen the entire episode devoted to the RW and more of a suspenseful scene, but that's okay. I thought the dialogue between Robb and Talisa (wish it was Jeyne) was outstanding, and seeing her (and unborn child) brutally murdered was truly heartbreaking.

Viper vs The Mountain is probably my favorite moment in all the books.

Mine as well. One of the few parts of the series I've been able to predict accurately. I remember thinking to myself as I read the passage "Viper, you idiot, stop talking to him and finish it already! He's going to crush you if you give him the chance, kill him moron!" lol

That reminds me; what happened to the bad musicians!? That was another awesome detail from the books which was changed for no apparent reason.

Exactly what I'm saying. I just felt like the mood wasn't really set right. I remember the book describing it as something like the wedding from hell: awful music, awful food, being overcrowded, etc. Just some details that was left out that I would have liked to have seen. I guess I'm nitpicking.

I really want to see Cat go mad and claw her face while laughing hysterically. One of the most horrifying things I've ever read in a book. I'm sure that would have been very difficult to pull off in terms of make-up, but still.

Yeah, I was actually looking forward to the bad musicians, although that probably sounds dumb. It was the one part of that scene in the ks books that I found amusing.

Bad musicians would have made it too obvious something weird was going on. For all intents and purposes it was pretty good until they closed the door.

Michelle Fairley nailed it for me. I understand why they had her catatonic instead of clawing her face off...money for makeup. Look at what they did with Tyrion's injury. He's supposed to be down half a nose but they just gave him a scar easy and quick to replicate so they aren't spending hours in makeup and driving up cost that much more. Overall, I think they did a wonderful job with the episode. I had a complaint but it was minor, and I can't even remember what I was going to type...

Robb's wife in the books, Jeyne, stays behind at Riverrun with Blackfish. People have been speculating that she's being hidden because she was pregnant and has Robb's heir, but that theory got stabbed in the gut about ten times last night...

And they started playing "The Rains of Castamere".

"What the... that's Tywin Lannister's music!"

It didn't clue me in in the book. That or the bad food. I just figured Walder Frey was a cheap jerk.

With Grey Worm they made spear fighting look so cool. That bodes well for The Red Viper vs. The Mountain. That's the scene I'm looking most forward to for the rest of the series (that's been in the books). That, Drogon attacking the fighting pit, "The north remembers, Lord Davos, and the mummer's farce is almost done. My son is home.", and any Lannister dying.
