Now there's a poll up on the EV article from earlier today: Leading Off: Vanderdoes caught in recruiting chaos - Leading Off - The Sacramento Bee

The Question: Should Eddie Vanderdoes be let out of a commitment to Notre Dame if he wishes?

Your Options: A.) Yes, it's his choice. B.) No, he should honor it.

I find this poll ridiculous and Mr. Davidson, although apparently well respected after 25+ years covering Sacremento sports, is losing my respect by the minute.

Also, I have a feeling we will be hearing something in the next few hours. Nothing concrete to back this up, just my gut telling me EV is an expert media strategist and knows burying this on a Friday afternoon/evening is the right play.

I read that Eddie says he signed the LOI, but never pinky swore.

Your source is wrong Bob. He crossed his fingers behind his back when the LOI was signed. Stop spreading rumors, this thread has enough in it already....

* Dammit Jack. Beat me to it. I'm just honored to think like "radio sensation whiskeyjack" now.

Just come out with something! I'm so sick of checking this thread! I have really grown to hate recruiting, like I previously posted my head still hurts!!!!! On a side note I just made a twitter account for myself, still no face book but I really like this twitter thing! I think it may be around for a while #GoIrish. Yep that just happened

I don't know guys...this is starting to look like what happens when a dude is desperate to know why a chick dumped him.

I heard he released a statement last night that read:
Well as you know sometimes I may or may not because often times it may or may not be the case. In this situation it was a thing that we have sometimes maybe but never really but you know what I mean. I hope you now all understand because it was well you know because it is and should sometimes be. No questions please!

There are many issues with this EV situation, but one thing - that I just thought about - is that a coach can recruit players and then leave and take another job without sitting a year.

Not the same. First, Eddie isn't transferring since he's not even a student yet. Second, coaches contracts usually have buyout clauses so its not as if there is no penalty.

Well we could ask EV to pay back millions of dollars and call it good but I think he would rather just sit the year out. Coaches have to pay back a lot of money if they leave early and same situation if they are fired, they get paid. Of course that is if their contract is not up, yet.

Not to mention a coach doesn't promise to come coach the team, but then decide to back out on that commitment a month before he's supposed to take the job.

I wish I could agree with your logic, but I bet coaches make a ton of promises that they don't deliver on...not everywhere, but it happens.

I bet chip Kelly made some promises to recruits this past offseason

Well Kelly coached at Oregon, what, six years? Most of those Oregon superstars only stay 3. So at least he put his time in. It is not the same to compare to someone who promises to show up and just doesn't.
