At 10AM Pacific Time Microsoft will be announcing the next xbox on pretty much every medium it can get it's hands on. Here's a link that should be streaming it when the time comes:

Watch the Xbox Reveal Event Live on IGN - IGN

The only thing that's been confirmed is that something regarding Fifa Next-Gen will be happening but other than that, we're pretty much in the dark.

My Questions: Will it be always-online? (It doesn't look like it will be and I can't imagine Microsoft being that stupid). Will Microsoft focus on the games or will it continue it's trend of making the Xbox a media hub? How will Microsoft somehow make every gamer watching feel uncomfortable? (Anyone remember live demonstrations of Rock Band?)

What do you guys think? Are you a sure lock to buy the next Xbox? Or are you thinking PS4? Or maybe no console at all? (I might be leaning towards investing in a PC since steam has really worked its way into my wallet and refuses to leave.)

Unfortunately whatever they announce they are still going to get my money. At least until PCs get a decent NFL/NCAA game. Do you think that could happen with the upcoming monopoly thing with EA(not too familiar with that)?

I own 2 other devices with multimedia capability and I have no interest in multiplayer gaming. Basically, I'm just hoping that I won't have to get a new console to keep up my occasional single player game habit.

Games on XBox have been migrating toward pushing owners into the multiplayer universe in order to enjoy all the features. This is already pushing me toward a PS4 if I have to upgrade (I can't justify the cost of XBox Live).

If you're talking about the lawsuit I don't think that has anything to do with putting the game on PC, it's about people claiming that they are overcharging for their product. The stronger the PC market gets, the more likely that they will bring Madden back to PC. (Could be even more incentive if rumors of the Xbox running a modified version of Windows 8 is true.)

That's understandable. I think that's less Microsoft and more the game publishers though. Multiplayer is big business and is the sure way to make sure the teenagers buy your game. However, with PS4 seemingly focusing more on games and still having (we think) free online, PS4 sounds like it makes the most sense to you.

This may sound silly but my mind may be made up for me if Dark Souls 2 goes to either console first. I love Dark Souls more than a person should love an entertainment device.

One of the underlying claims in the suit is that allowing the NCAA to negotiate an exclusive agreement with EA is a restraint on trade. Ultimately, I don't think the suit will change this but it's there.

Well presumably Microsoft is creating a financial incentive for developers to push users into XBox Live but you're right, my stance is all about utility rather than the blame game.

My favorite console behind my glorious N64.

That was a good one. I went from a Nintendo in 1988 to that PS2 in college and have been new video game console-less since. I have a 7 year old son who has a Nintendo DS so I am hoping he will be ready for a full console soon so ol' Dad can get back into it.

I got my N64 at 8 years old, just sayin'...

Don't get a Wii U though, unless you want your son to be completely disinterested and you're dying to waste a couple hundred dollars.

If I had a kid that age I'd get him a Gamecube. Tons of kid-friendly games and they are all going to be cheap as hell on Amazon since the system is two generations old.

I know exactly how you feel Grey. Back when Xbox 360 and PS3 were first annoucned at E3 ( I think it was 2005...) I was a massive supporter of PS2. I had the xbox aswell, but i basically never played it except HALO with my friends. And the reason why, was because SOCOM NAVY SEALS was my favorite game of all time back then. I cannot even explain how much i loved those first 2 games. So naturally when they announced 2 news consoles, my mind was already made up. I bypassed the 360, and waited until summer 2006 to finally get my PS3. Why did i choosed PS3, because that was the only console that SOCOM was released on. I could give up HALO sooner than i could give up SOCOM.

So here we are today, 7 some years later, and we are faced with the exact same decision as before. How will I choose?

Since the SOCOM series is basically dead, after the completely butchered the last game, and that was honestly 80% of the reason bought a PS3... I am going to base my decision 100% off of what my friends are going to buy. I don't play nearly as much as I used to, and the primary games I play are Assassins Creed, COD, BF, AKA multi console blockbuster games. It looks like i am probably going to end up getting the next xbox becasue the majority of my friends who even still game are all on 360 now.

But you never know, they just might announce a new SOCOM title, and my whole theory will get flipped upside down.

Yea I don't really care for all that entertainment variety ability stuff, i guess it is cool though switching instantly between internet and tv and such. I was looking foward to seeing actual game footage, but oh well.

But that Halo tv show announcement was crazy. Such a tease not going in depth, but directed by Spielberg should make it awesome.

I was impressed with the tech demo. If the voice control is that fast and responsive and they really put their full effort into integrating TV broadcasts, I could see myself picking up one of these after a price drop even if I decide to purchase a PC or PS4.

I definitely wish they would've put more emphasis on the games, but I think it's a smart move by Microsoft not to do that. The real money these days is in the multi-console blockbusters. No matter what happens, most developers will be preparing their games for both PS4 and Xbox One, so differentiating your system on the built-in software is a pretty smart move IMO.

It's the the exclusives that make the console.

And PS4 has that category wrapped up.

Microsoft is leaning towards Nintendo right now.

Nintendo = casual gamers
Microsoft = middle of the road gamers
Sony = hardcore gamers

It's really going to come down to E3 for me in deciding to make a purchase. Xbox says they have 15 exclusive games that will be revealed there and at least 6 of those will be brand new franchises. I know what Sony has up it's sleeve (how awesome is Naughty Dog?), if Microsoft can wow me it'll be which exclusives I like more versus price point.

Also, I want to see PS4's dashboard. I hate the PS3 software more than anything. "Hey let's play a game really quick"... updating... installing... system starting up... installing.... ...and I'm out of time.

Seriously, what the hell.

I'm guessing it's because Microsoft and Sony (neither the new XBox nor the PS4 will support old format) are trying to eliminate the secondary market for games. They get a piece of new sales but not used ones.

This could potentially hurt my incentive to buy a Xbox One. It's unclear right now, some are saying there will be a fee, some are saying there won't be.

Report: All Xbox One games must be installed, secondhand players must pay fee [Update] | Polygon

Still in the process of shaking down rental businesses and secondary retailers I imagine. Microsoft would certainly prefer to get their money from parties besides the end user so that the added cost becomes hidden.

EDIT: and I will bet 100% of my massive cache of vbucks that "no fee" means you get a limited amount of playing time to "preview" an unpurchased game before you are cut off.
