That makes sense. It really was good. Nice and clean. It grew on me.

Now onto Booker's Single Barrel. Out celebrating the doctorate graduation.

A pretty good stout.

Very hoppy. Very good.

I love Green Flash West Coast IPA. Nice choice. A great example of west coast IPAs. Hops, citrus and tropical fruits with some pine and very little malt.

Thanks. It was delicious. I just asked my best man to be in my wedding yesterday too and got him a bottle of Elijah Craig 12 year. Cracking it sometime in the future. Can't wait to try it.

Quality is inconsistent, but when it's good, EC12y is among the best values in bourbon.

A very good bourbon that is well worth it's price.

The Elijah Craig was really good. I'll defintely keep trying some of those others you guys mentioned. Keep buying the JD for when I want to get drunk, the good stuff to sip.

Scott's Selection Old Pulteney 1977 28yo. Salted mango, peaches and some malt. Light wood smoke. A great whisky, too bad it is almost gone.

Has anybody tried the Goose Island Bourbon County beers? I had someone recommend the stouts to me and I was considering getting them in since they are in limited supply. The problem is, stout doesn't seem like a good summer beer and they're on the expensive side. What are the opinions of the resident brewphiles?

So Slate wrote a really obnoxious article about how hopheads are ruining craft beer, which in turn inspired the great SBNation beer roundtable/ bloodbath. It's guaranteed to make beer fans chuckle at least a few times.

Particularly this part:

It's a bizarre but unarguably popular trend - breweries engaged in an arms race of hops to create beverages that finish with a Saharan-dry bouquet of copier paper and concrete mix. They're gross, and I'm quietly judging you for drinking them because I'm petty.

I may be guilty of that from time to time.

Where the hell did you find Pappy 20y?

My wonderful wife bought it for me as an anniversary gift back around 2007/2008 (I think it went for about $110 back then). I rarely break it out but it is a wonderful treat. Sadly it is just about impossible to find now.

This is great stuff, thanks Whiskey! The Slate article is so very obnoxious (my friend doesn't like hops so no one else should too) and the SBNation article definitely decimates the Slate beer "expert."

This might be my new sig:
By the way, if you don't like hops we can't be friends.
