IE should take out an ad in those prospects local newspapers letting them know we need a stud ILB that's ready to play soon.

Just realized kids don't read newspapers anymore. Post it on Facebook.

BK should also tweet it.

U.S. Army All-American LB Nyles Morgan of Crete (Ill.) Monee shot me a text saying he ran a 4.53 40yd dash today:

Steve keeps saying we are in his top 3 so that's music to my ears.

Notre Dame has been recruiting Crete for quite awhile. Finally, an athlete who can pass admissions.

Vandy and Ole Miss, IIRC. Check the last couple pages of this thread.

Cause I'm lazy and get him and the other Chicago area LB confused, he was teammates with Treadwell right? Or at least close friends from the same workout spot?

Gotcha gotcha. Thanks fellas. I've kinda ignored his recruitment for some reason. Don't take it personal Nyles.

Per Sampson, Martin visited him earlier this spring and now Diaco visited him yesterday. Morgan said ND is recruiting him hard and for the MIKE postion. Nyles said one of his biggest factors will be the depth chart and he is aware the Irish lack at that postion

My buddy the coach said that Morgan has a new coach - so maybe he'll have a positive influence in his recruitment, but still thinks Morgan is a longshot at best.

You've had double digit posts about Morgan being a long shot. I think we get it. Not to be a dick but maybe your friend has a distorted view on things? Everything I have seen on 247 and Rivals indicates the opposite of being a long shot (they say there's a long way to go, but by no means a long shot). TJ34 said just today that he disagrees that he is a long shot.

Sorry to be a downer on this kids recruitment - I'm just not going to get my hopes up for a Chicago public school kid. We don't recruit them well. His buddies are at Ole Miss. And from the sounds of things he would get along great with Snoop Lion, if you catch my drift. He's a damn fine football player, and I don't think any of these things should exclude him from ND. That said, I think some of these things will eventually exclude ND for him. I try to bring everything I hear from my pal on Chicago kids because he seems to know what he's talking about. The past several recruiting cycles he hasn't told me anything that wasn't true. He doesn't guarantee Morgan doesn't go to ND, but I think he knows Chicago HS football better than anyone at Rivals, 247, Scout, ESPN, and yes, even TJ (who is awesome).

I don't want to be part of your argument but Crete-Monee is not even close to a Chicago Public School. You keep calling him a Chicago kid but Crete is really not Chicago. They play in a conference with Kankakee and Rich East, south, and Central.

I don't know anything about Morgan other than would love for him to commit to ND. Just thought I would mention he isn't a Chicago kid if that is what you are basing your argument on.

Not really what I'm basing anything on engineer. Im not really familiar with the lay of the land up there. I just know what the coach tells me about these kids from his personal meetings with them as well as what other coaches tell him.

From the view on Google Earth, Crete is the first rural town outside of the Chicago suburban sprawl. It's not "Chicago" in an urban or even suburban sense.

I've never been to Crete, but I have been to the surrounding towns on a weekly basis: Matteson, Chicago Heights, Ford Heights, Homewood, Harvey, Dolton.
Are they Chicago Public Schools?
No.

Make no mistake, they're as Chicago as the suburbs get.
All of them are tough little towns in their own right.
