I think there would still be a lot of Cubs fans. I remember reading an article last year once the playoffs started that the Cubs had the second highest road attendance in the league behind the Yankees.

Just this year, playing in Miami, the Marlins had only their second game above XX,*** in attendance. It was vs. the Cubs. The only other game that reach above that level was Opening Day.

And I have read a couple times this "city won't allow it". I don't know how much you have been following this whole ordeal but the city has been the biggest problem at this point, siding with the rooftop owners and making progress on the renovations come to an extreme crawl.

This could have all be handled before season started but they have chose to play hardball for no apparent reason.

Do I see them leaving Wrigley absolutely not. Will they stay because "the city wouldn't let them leave?" I don't think that is hte case either.

They will be there because the Ricketts want to be there.

This is just the thing. They aren't.

The City is on board with this. They've already pretty much tentatively agreed to the Cubs' plans. Even more than that, the Cubs generate $600 million a year for Chicago and will add an additional $100 million or so a year when the renovations are complete.

The issue is with the rooftop owners. They're pissed some of their views might be obstructed by potential signage and video screen and they've threatened to sue to enforce the revenue sharing contracts they've signed with the Cubs.

All of this stuff about them moving seriously stems with that. The Cubs will never move.

the city didn't agree until they weren't on the hook for anything. they place restrictions on night games, and take side with the roof top. i don't exactly call that "on board". i do agree they aren't going anywhere.

Right I just thought we were talking about the current proposal. The hand wringing, Chicago-style politics when the Cubs wanted the City to help foot the bill were ridiculous.

Once the roof top owners quiet down, this should actually move rather quickly and smoothly. Ricketts is just trying to gain any leverage he has in any potential settlement with the rooftops.

You think so? For not winning a championship in 105 years and counting, I think we have some pretty committed fans
