Hubbard is not a better player than Booker. He is a project with tons of upside though. Projects as a bigger, more athletic Danny Spond for ND fans. Kid could be special when all is said and done.

I'm guessing they mean he isn't the heavy heavy OSU lean everyone thinks and the staff feels they have a legit shot at him.

I walked right past him after the lacrosse game yesterday on my way to my car. He looked like a h.s. football player but I didn't know if he was b/c I hadn't heard we were going to have a visitor from St. Vincent/St. Mary's (he was wearing his school windbreaker).

I read the ISD update and of course it dawned on me. Looks like a great athlete up close, but man, I'm shocked that he's an inside LB...gonna have to put on a lot of weight to be one in college (and many have).

I am starting to think he might be the lone guy out in the Buckeyes LB numbers crunch. Urban already took Kyle Berger and Sam Hubbard (both of which are better HS players than Booker right now) at LB and OSU looks very good for Raekwon McMillan of Georgia.

Wonder if this is part of the reason, earlier in the process he visited OSU so many times and was a massive lean, now ND has 2 out of his last 3 visits.

Would like to hear what staff views him as, seems like he could play DOG, WILL or even CAT

he actually plays OLB for his high school....very athletic and and plays pretty well and space.

team won the state championship last year and will probably be the favorite going into next.

WOW 2 minutes of his junior tape was all I needed to see. Love this kid. Not quite Jaylon Smith, but he did remind me of Michael Hutchings from last cycle. Really good coverage linebacker with a lot of quickness. On one play he showed great lateral movement coming off a block and making a tackle. On the very next he faked a blitz and then was in coverage 7 yards beyond the LOS in the blink of an eye ... the QB had no idea where he was and threw the ball right to him. Also looks great getting behind the LOS and getting after the QB. He's all over the field. He has some bulking up to do but DO WANT big-time.

I typed this in this thread almost two months ago and nothing's happened to make me think any differently. Dante's great playing in space 5-7 yards from the LOS, reading the play and closing in to make a tackle or defense a pass. That's exactly the kind of LB we need for Diaco's conservative system (but Dante can blitz too). He needs to bulk up, it's true, but I think he could be a great DOG or ILB for us, he's one of my favorite LBs this cycle, and if we snag him I'll be ECSTATIC.

When recruits use those words it's usually a good thing. They see what is different between ND vs. everybody else. Otherwise you have confused kids for example KC McDermott that think ND is the same as Miami. Not sure how this ends but it's moving in the right direction.

hard telling. with the updates from ISD coming out of the visit, it wouldn't appear to be overly optimistic.

Yeah but KC didn't drop the "different" line, in fact quite the opposite. And Notre Dame wasn't rising like a rocket in his evaluations, as it seems to be the case with Booker.
