I know man but Greg Bryant, Max Redfield, Eddie Vanderdoes, Tarean Folston, Tori Hunter, Durtham Smythe didn't really have ND on their board around this time last year. Everything will fall into place the staff has done this before.

+1.

what i am suggesting is that they had their core of kids they sent offers out to w/ the notion they were going to have a smaller class...couple of medicals, transfers etc now we are on pace to have a typical class for ND...so now they have a larger base to send offers out to but could be evaluating tape to see who now they can....usually comes in waves as far as offers

BUT yes i agree the one's you mentioned are certainly elite talents...BUT some of the kids don't need to be courted the entire time and look at 2 of our biggest names from last year...we weren't communicating w/ redfield/vanderdoes until the end

While I agree with a lot of what you said I did want to point out that we were pursuing Redfield the whole time. In fact he did an interview where he stated that Kelly was regularly hitting him up on FB throughout his recruitment. It just didn't seem that way because he was committed to another school and couldn't visit until his official. He had stated almost all spring and summer of 2012 that he was taking an official to ND.

This is a great point because we got all of these kids at the end of the cycle, and defiantly benefited with USC tanking. My point is that we just had a great season and everyone was saying the 2014 class would benefit more from last season than the actual 2013 class, so I am surprised with how it is going espicially in terms of Malik.

Were doing just fine with Malik some think we are running in second. But we trail that's no secret.

I agree bro about the recruits we have and I have no doubt that we will end the year with a top 10 class as Coach Kelly and his staff have proven they can recruit. My point is guys like Malik and Peppers were considered to be at the top of the board and when was the last time we saw an update about them in regards to ND. I think even you would have to admit that it's a bit surpising so far, but by no means am I saying the staff cant recruit or wont b/c I know they will.

I think when you are very early in the recruiting cycle fans put certain guys in the category of "ND has a great chance" based on various reasons. Years ago we thought we had a great shot with Seantrel Henderson because he went to High School with Michael Floyd and he looked at him like an older brother or we have a great chance with James Hurst because he's fom Indiana. Its not until you get further into the recruiting process that you realize what the level of interest is with these kids. I think we all thought we had a great shot with Peppers because of Shumate but it looks like Peppers may not be that interested. If the staff doesn't think they have a shot with someone they are gong to move on. ND is coming off a great season and will probably have another great season. I'm sure they are very confident they will fill the class with elite recruits.

“@SWiltfong247: I really like where #Michigan currently stands with Detroit (Mich.) Loyola five-star Malik McDowell."

We need to get him to visit ASAP. Michigan is kicking our *** in recruiting right now

Michigan is not kicking ND's *** in recruiting. McDowell was always going to be a tough pull for Notre Dame. Detroit kid that grew up a Michigan fan that has a father that is pushing him to Michigan. Drake Harris same thing. Kid from Michigan that grew up a Michigan football fan with a father who is pushing him towards Michigan. Those are tough pulls for any school. Not saying they are Michigan locks or anything, but it's not easy to pull kids like that.

Peppers grew up a Michigan fan. Corey Holmes grew up a Michigan fan. D'shawn Hand says his favorite coaches are Hoke and Mattison. Still a long ways to go with all of them.

I really don't see how Michigan is kicking ND's ***. Both have pretty good classes right now, and there is still a long ways to go.

They're not but we all, or at least many of us, overreact to all things ND. Michigan appeared to be kicking our *** at this time last year as well and we all see how that turned out.

Not worried now, but I'll be so pissed if MichigN finishes with a higher ranked class this year.

How the heck does he not have a 10 for size and frame?

Notice the point of attack rating. Not good for a kid with his size and ability. I love McDowell as a prospect, but he's overrated a bit as a top 20-30 prospect. He's got that kind of raw ability in him but he's nowhere close to that as a finished product.

While Detroit has some great athletes he goes up against none of those players. He plays some of the worst competition in the state of Michigan and he dominates on sheer size and ability alone. Very raw as a defensive linemen, plays too high and doesn't use his hands well. He needs a redshirt and probably won't really contribute in college until he's a redshirt sophomore.

i could see them losing 3 games -- ND, MSU, OSU, with a possibility of 4 if PSU is any good... That would mean no Big championship, no BCS birth, and another average year... That being said their schedule is pretty soft and can easily go 11-1/12-0

really hate OSU so i would appreciate if UM stumbled early and often and then stuck it to the buckeyes at the end making both of their seasons ending in irrelevancy

If I could choose for him to go to Central Michigan or 'other' right now, I'd pick for him to go to Central Michigan. I can't stand Michigan.

they are better than Houston! :D

I thought for sure there would be a "better than Purdue" blast coming in there...

As Irish2848 pointed out, it may be more of an indicator that he looking to stay close to home. SB isn't that far away either though.

That he is looking at Central is a good thing, I believe. I live in Michigan, and South Bend is considered VERY "local".
