We really do, lately. It wasn't that long ago that we got Fleming and Filer in the same year. We need to get back to that.
cuz they were standouts....but i understand what you're saying

Yep I knew what you meant. I was referring to Panda's comment.True, Fleming became a good player. Anyway, all I meant is that they were two top recruits in the Chicago area who played the same position and picked ND in the same year. Hard to imagine that, the way things have been going for us with a lot of Chicago-area recruits. Not to seem ungrateful for guys like Lombard, McGovern, etc ... it certainly hasn't been a complete dry spell.

I'm pretty grateful for Chris Watt, too.
Has he visited before?
I was wondering because he was only visiting one day compared to 2 for the others.
4-star Chicago De La Salle OL Jamarco Jones @jjones_73 recaps #ND #UW #UM #MSU visits, plus narrowing his list soon: Scout.com: Jones Narrowing Focus
I ran a grade school camp today at De La Salle here in Chicago, which is where JaMarco Jones and Shelby Spence go. Spence came and threw to our kids, and happens to be one of the nicest yes sir no sir kids I've ever met. The pertinent bit is that he's been best friends with Jones since grade school and they were looking at that crystal ball thing or some recruiting prediciton online that said he was going to OSU. Apparently Jones' reaction was like 'news to me'. Said Jones hasn't said anything to him one way or another and doesn't think he's made up his mind at all.
Thanks for the info. That's interesting.
I still think O$U is the team to beat, even if Jones doesn't know it.
But that does raise a (potentially) interesting scenario. Say we have Byrne, Mustipher, Nelson, and Bars all in the fold and Jones wants to commit in January before B. Smith makes a decision. Is Jones a 'don't turn away' or do we tell him 'only if B. Smith doesn't pick ND'? My gut is that we tell him to wait on B. Smith. But that is only based on the recent focus toward Nelson, Bars, and Smith by the ND recruiting sites. If we're willing to take Nelson (who by all accounts is near the top of ND's board) and Bars at OT without giving Jones time to decide, that makes me believe he's high on the board but not at the top. And it sounds like Smith is higher. I guess if we somehow fall out of the race with Smith, Jones would be a "must take".
Does anybody have a feel for this? Is my gut right? What is a horseshoe? What does a horseshoe do? Is anybody listening to me?

OT. Assuming there isn't an overwhelming preference for Smith (and I can't imagine why there would be), it'd be hard to tell such a recruit to hold off until 2014 because we have to see what Smith does first. Too much risk of losing both that way.
