I'm an II subscriber and don't have twitter. PA's posts help me because I don't spend 24/7 on the internet.

This is exactly why I used to do it, because not every premium customer has twitter. I thought it would offer convenience to the premium customers who are always on IE, allowing a one-stop shop for getting updates, but people raised too much fuss about it. I really don't understand why, but I no longer do it. I'm happy PA is, though. I dig.

I can see how it could be interpreted as pleading for a summary, but I think the more info passed through IE the better. Makes it more streamline.

If this is the goal, them I completely understand. However, if the staff goes after two highly regarded QBs, then it will only result in another transfer (more often than not).

IF Rees doesn't play this year, what are the chances he comes back for a 5th and the staff sticks to only recruiting one QB this year? I like EG, MZ, TR, freshman better than EG, MZ, freshman, freshman. IF Tommy doesn't come back for a 5th, is EG, MZ, freshman, freshman really all that different to EG, MZ, freshman? I mean the staff can move over a player from a different position who has a QB background if depth is the only area of concern. It'd only be for one year as a stop-gap. I guess I'm just struggling with idea of using another scholarship (in an already small class) on a second QB when there are other options available.

I'd say yes. I think in college you really need 4 capable QBs these days, especially with the season being longer (more games). In the NFL, you only carry three because if you have two injuries you can pick up a free agent mid-season to be your backup, maybe a guy you cut at the end of the pre-season or something. But in college, there are no mid-season pickups; you gotta have the depth to withstand injuries from opening day forward. Also, I agree with BGIF that you can't necessarily trust a guy just because he was a HS QB. I mean, would you trust John Goodman at QB for us? (If we can keep Hendrix or even Massa for 2014, that's great, as both are (or, in Massa's case, at least started out as) college QBs, but I think both are more likely to be gone. Even if the coaches want them to stay, they may want to transfer somewhere where they have a real shot at playing time for their 5th years.)

So I kind of like the idea of recruiting two QBs in 2014. TP had the right idea earlier in the thread. You recruit one guy who is the right fit as an athlete, a guy like Dawkins to be the heir apparent. Then you recruit someone like Massa or Rees ... a 3-star-ish player who is a real ND type of kid and who will be content to hold the clipboard and be a backup because he really just wants to be at ND, but who has the ability to fill in capably if needed. That way you avoid the problem of one being likely to transfer and you have a solid depth chart at QB.

Don't be surprised if USC offers in the next month or so. All indications are that Keller Chryst is going to Stanford.

He mentioned it being a good thing that SC only has 3 QBs on the roster, but hell, after this season we will likely only have two.

Right now, only ND and Utah have offered IIRC.

Only QB target with an offer from ND.

by the way, loved how ND was mentioned first, but that was in no way shape or form, an top 3 in order

If anyone lists his top 3 I'll give you a buffal nickel. I'm on my phone and 3g just isn't what it used to be.

His words: "oh on the spot, top 3... (pauses to catch a pass, which he drops), ND, Utah, SC"

Also expects a USC offer May 1st when SC QB coach come to first his school for first practice. He said it would be a great one to have, also said it wouldn't be bad to stick near the West coast because he loves the weather, but he "wouldn't pull on the spot, I wanna take my time with it".

“@RadiNabulsi: Deshaun Watson is looking like a million bucks here at the #Elite11. Same can be said for Brandon Dawkins of California.”

Decided to check his 247 profile to see if there where any crystal ball predictions. The only one is Justin Hopkins and has him going to ND. However while checking I noticed he has gone from #2 Dual QB and #100 overall to #9 Dual QB and not in top 247 on 247. He also hasn't added any offers to the ND, Utah and NC State ones he's had for quite awhile according to the recruiting sites.

i struggle evaluating the QB position so take this with a grain of salt, but i don't think we need to push very hard for his commitment at this point...i'd rather take the summer and evaluate the other 5 guys that appear to be on our radar.

only downfall to that is sometimes it helps in recruiting to have a QB in your class helping lead the charge (like Zaire did last year)

ISD's Sean Mele lists Dawkins as our #3 QB target:

Only three offers for Dawkins remains a big mystery for me and I’m not quite sure what college teams are looking for anymore. It had been a while since I did my evaluation on him so I looked at some film again and I know I’m not Mel Kiper Jr., but I still believe this kid is pretty good.

He’s the only dual-threat quarterback the Irish have offered and the only quarterback offered before Kiel transferred. He’s not your typical dual-threat quarterback in terms of height, but he can really run and hurt teams with his legs. Combine that with the fact that he’s incredibly accurate and you have a defensive coordinator’s worst nightmare on third down. I said in my original evaluation that he reminds me of current NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and I’m sticking to that comparison. What’s ironic is I believe Kaepernick only had one Division I offer when he was being recruited.

It’s not his mechanics or arm strength, as both of those areas seemed just fine to me when watching his tape. I get the sense that maybe because he only has three offers that schools are just assuming there’s an issue and staying away from him. I don’t have the answer, but I hope things work out for him down the road.

The guy has a point, it seems this kid has fallen off the radar and I am not sure why. He isnt a 5* on any site, but it seems that most of the recruiting services like him. I would be happy with Dawkins coming to ND personally, unless we can snag a big fish that I am unaware of.

I feel as tho through evaluation we are higher on Allen at this point. I haven't read that but in reading the tea leaves it seems we've been very active with Allen as of late and not as much with Dawkins.
