Came in, worked his butt off for four years, never saw serious playing time and never made a peep? If, by hook or by crook, he's here next year I'll love Stockton. If he fifth years somewhere else, I'll love him. Good job, big guy.

you gotta think UMass would have a place for him or possibly Kansas? Now would be the time to make a move though with spring practice getting going around the country

yikes....so well off to fork over 20,000+ in tuition?

$20K? Are you assuming he only stays one semester? Even if he stays a whole year and they borrow the whole thing he is in pretty good shape $50K in debt with five years of schooling at ND.

Seems like a real good kid. Lots of degrees almost require a corresponding graduate degree to be worth much. Putting a UMass or Kansas graduate degree on top of your ND undergrad is like putting ketchup (or even catsup) on your filet mignon. Just by having a four year scholarship you are already light years ahead of the average student and you are fortunate if your first money spent is in graduate school.

Based on making it through what the players go through now with Longo and Kelly, I assume. I don't know.

you will never hear me say a kid's in "good shape" being 50,000 in debt...sorry that's a heck of a lot of money to me regardless of degree.

the 20,000 i was thinking of was after financial aid eligibility

$50,000 at 6.8% (thanks Obama) for 20 years = $381.67/month

Not bad for a Notre Dame degree, especially when that represents your total out of pocket. Even better if that gets you to double domer status.

Hell, $50K isn't a bad total debt to walk out of plenty of state schools.

I am in class and don't feel like strolling through a bunch of threads lol

Didn't see it anywhere? It's mentioned in the first couple posts in the thread that specifically references the presser today haha. Where did you look?

Coach sees something in Tyler. He has called upon Tyler to lead pre-practice huddle cheers. Maybe there will be opportunity for him to squeeze in there occasionally. Can't help but root that this happens [but not due to injuries].

If Tyler could be NT Three, then Springmann could be all-the-time DE Two behind Tuitt or Day. If Vanderdoes is as good as advertised, then DLine Two would be crystallized as Springmann + Schwenke + Vanderdoes, and certain candidates would be left out [ex. Jones]. Hopefully this possibility inspires these folks.

Since I believe that Utupo has found his niche at last, I think that he will get some playing time. This squeezes down on Jones even further. And there's Rochell. With Tyler Stockton at number three NT, one can see us as a loaded DLine three deep, NONE of whose names is "Jarron Jones". .... this comprises a rather weird and unexpected thought, optimistic for Notre Dame but sobering perhaps for Jones. He, if he doesn't watch it, might turn into Brandon Newman.

tyler will never ever be a NT lol, his best bet to see the field is in a 4-3 as pass rushing under DT late in blowout games or versus the service academies

Just wanted to point tout that the staff invited him back for a 5th year...He has gotten a good amount of PT this year and has played well. Real happy for the kid.

He may not of had the most impressive stats on the field, but yesterday Tyler walked and received his MBA degree from Notre Dame - not a bad consolation prize. Congrats to him, very impressive and truly want ND is about.

Kind of tells you all you need to know about Stockton when the last post before this one in his thread was about the fact that he got a 5th year.

Congrats to him on receiving the MBA though.

That is great!! I hope that he is successful in that avenue, but something tells me that Tyler will not need football to be successful in life.

There's a typo in literally the first word in the press release.

Mistakes (misteaks???) such as this shake my head. Especially when presented and sanctioned by a college or university.

A little proof reading is a wunnerful thang! A basic spellcheck review ain't gonna be worth spit in circumstances such as this.

ColinKSU, you get my Eagle/Evil Eye award for the week ...
