7 seed is too low for sure, I thought if we lost to Marquette we would still probably be a six so this was disappointing. I don't really know anything about Iowa St., have any of you guys watched them play much this year?

Ya their not that bad they score a lot but also give up a lot. They beat ok st and k st but both were at home. Didn't beat anyone good on the road. 8th best offensive efficiency. 126 defense efficiency. They make 3s left and right. They can hit it from anywhere on the floor and their best player will clyburn can drive or pull up and hit it from everywhere on the floor. We're gonna have our hands full definaitly. They have 5 guys that score double digit points a game and one comes off the bench and gets about 25 mins a game.
We have the 13th best offensive efficiency and the 94th best defensive efficiency. Grant and Cooley are gonna have to step up a lot. We're probably gonna slow them down a lot and do the burn offense the whole game but Iowa st is very dangerous so should be a good game but I'm nervous
I don't care what Biedscheid's ranking was, if he can't shoot a jump shot at a higher percentage he's not going to be very good. He has very poor form compared to Connaughton, who at least looks like a pure shooter. They are either going to fix Beidscheid's shot, or roll the dice with him. He shot 32% from 2-point range and 31% from 3-point range. Yeah, he had some streaky games, but was lousy overall.
I like Auguste's athleticism. If he gets a softer touch around the hoop he could have a good career.
Heck, 5 vs 12 matchups are almost a coin flip anymore. 7 vs 10 definitely shouldn't have a strong favorite.
If any team traditionally underperforms as much as the Irish in the NCAAs it is Iowa State. If either us or ISU gets hot this weekend OSU might be in for a fight.

So, basically you're saying...
You like Zach for his potential?
Well, i also like Cameron for his potential.
I was skeptical of him even being physically mature enough to play D1 ball this year.
So far, especially his defense, gas exceeded my expectations.
Give the guy one more year at minimum before you write him off.
What I'm saying is that if he can't be a consistent jump shooter, due to a flaw in his shooting form, he doesn't bring much else to the game. You don't need to be physically mature to be quick. He's not particularly quick or explosive.
Let's hope they fix his jump shot.

I watched some of HS highlight tapes today, and he actually looked better in those than he does now.
Today, he has a bit of a hitch in his shot, which isn't near as pronounced last year, but I can look past that. The one thing he needs to change is his release point, because he makes himself about 6" shorter half the time when he releases it. But it's correctable.
More than anything, I think it's a guy that's lost some confidence in his stroke and is rushing everything (I think a combination of nerves vs. hitting that wall). Take his first (and I think only 3) in the BE tourny against Louisville. He literally jumped 3 ft forward on his shot. I don't care how good a shooter you are (with a few exceptions). That much movement on your jumper is going to cause all kinds of issues. It's as if he thought, "Oh crap, I'm open, gotta hurry!" and launched (both the ball and himself) at the basket.
Anyway, I'll get to watch up close on Friday, as a buddy of mine called me and asked if I wanted his two seats for the late session in UD on Friday. Going with my father in law, an ND grad who's never been to a basketball game (I don't think). Should be fun.
