Kinda unfair and unrealistic to compare him to Rudolph and Eifert, who were the top TEs in the country during their time at ND. Durham and Mike H. have some big shoes to fill.

play style and body build is rudolph. Look at Rudolphs high school tape and then watch Smythes. Its a clone. Its just Rudolph played at a national powerhouse and got exposure. Smythe could be the best TE in the nation but Texas puts out skill players galore that are going to be 4-5 star guys when they arent close. Not saying Ohio is bad bc its right top 5 state for talent, but TEs can def get lost in Texas.

Is that how it works? Is it that hit or miss? That finishes the argument for finding recruits that fit your needs and player development. (I aways found recruiting services a bit off the mark with recruits, and overblown in their views of themselves.)

imo they're very similar outside of Tyler was able to stay healthy...not knocking rudy at all, one of if not my all time favorite since 2000 (check the avatar )
