Gerry Hamilton of 247 was on Bill King's show this morning and said he thought ND would prefer to keep who they have in the fold with Bryant and Folston but would take Isaac if either of them flipped. He thinks Isaac is our backup plan.

CSNChicago updated their report saying he denied rumors about him visiting.

Will Ty Isaac switch to Notre Dame?

ah, I gotcha, thanks

Maybe, but is that to say we don't have a spot for Isaac if neither of Bryant or Folston flips? If so, I disagree. Isaac's a great athlete who can play multiple positions. Take if you have any room, end of story.

Besides the conversation he had with the IL high school writer he had earlier today, he just talked to the USC Rivals mod and said that he won't be taking anymore visits and that he'll be a Trogan unless something 'catastrophic' happens. Apparently nobody told him that Lane Kiffin will in fact be coaching next season, which is about as catastrophic as it gets for USC players and fans.

I wanted him at ND, but as an OLB/DE, not a RB. I've said all along that I see way more Anthony Barr in him than I see Eric Dickerson. Great pickup for USC IMO if they move him, which I doubt cause they are very thin at RB...

The remaining list is getting smaller...LaRue and now Isaac. I wish them well.

I'm an IL native and Personally, I'm very impressed by Isaac; He's huge and has amazing breakaway speed. He is definitely the type of running back ND would need against those big SEC teams like Bama. However, since he committed to USC I can't recall seeing any reports of Isaac reconsidering his options. He remained solid to SC even after we beat them in November. The only thing that I think might possibly have swayed him would be a bcs championship, and we all know unfortunately that did not happen. I'm almost positive he has not planned visit to ND before Signing Day. Despite the throngs of ND fans who want him (including myself), I'm 99% sure he's sticking to USC.
On the bright side, Greg Bryant is just as good, if not better. He performed very well at the Army all-american game, which, in my opinion is a great indicator of a bright future at ND.

That Yahoo article is nothing but conjecture. By conjecture I mean garbage.

This could be from yesterday but here ya go anyway:

#USC RB commit @TyIsaac talks #Trojans, #NotreDame, potential visit & more with @ISDUpdate (Premium) http://www.irishsportsdaily.com/recruiting/premium-football-recruiting/8563-ty-talks

Yeah, this is new. Definitely doesn't totally discount the possibility of scheduling an OV. Really sounds like the staff could get him to visit if they thought they had a spot for him, but right now he's on the back burner.

They'll have 2 spots for him on the 6th.

I wish they'd push for him. Let him and Folston duke it out at RB; loser moves to defense. Big win for us no matter how it shakes out.

With the way Folston played at DB, he certainly could have pulled a KR type year. Would have been awesome to see.

And lots of people feel like Isaac's ceiling is highest at LB; ILB is our greatest position of need now.

Why inside?

Take a look at our depth chart. We'll either be at 5/8 or 4/8 at ILB, depending on if Calabrese gets a 5Y. Some players will undoubtedly get moved inside, but there's no telling if such moves will actually provide quality depth. For instance, I could see Councell or Spond having a real impact, but players like Utupo and Rabasa seem to be one-dimensional pass rushers. So even if they're technically listed at ILB for next season, it's probably not going to improve our depth much.

Anzalone was a serious loss. Borderline 5:s: at one of our positions of greatest need.

Sounds like he isnt going anywhere. Even brought up how he was raised and being committed was serious. Hasn't run into any problems with the staff. From this article alone, he is 99% trojan.
