Expected.... so dont be mad if it happens. These sites dont know what goes on in these kids heads, at this age they are VERY impressionable.

Whatever happens, happens

Per 247 still committed to ND but will think it over and may not have a final decision until NSD. Hard to read as always. Sounds solid but at the same time it sounds like Auburn really impressed him. Very coy.

Then is not committed IMO. He would be a fool to go to the worst football team in the SEC. His name would never be heard again.

Auburn had an exceptionally bad 2012, but it is not usually anything close to "the worst football team in the SEC." Maybe not the best either. But they're competitive.

Took forever for Folston to commit and now seems like he will listen to any SEC team. He is the only one (now that AA is gone) I think is shaky.

No way this staff lets him hold a spot hostage until NSD.

agreed...he will need to reaffirm soon if he wants to hold on to his spot. pretty confident we need two RBs in this class so we can't take a chance losing one with no time to replace him.

Staff needs to call him Wed and say are you on board or not? If he says not then you spot isn't yours first come first serve.

This team went 12-0 and played in the NCG. We will not be played by anyone this year. Anzalone jumped off the train and if Folston wants off then bye. We have ongoing business to attend to. The mob runs over the weak minded.

Guys are being way too quick to throw a talented kid away. Just because we have options right now doesn't mean they'd be an upgrade or that not having Folston would be a loss. He is a great talent and I hope he sticks.

personally this is how i'd play it.

i would call/visit him to see where he stands. if he gives us the answer we want....great. if not then we continue to recruit, but go after wilson/isaac looking to get a read on how they feel. at that point you take the first to commit of those 3. maybe not the right way to do it, but i agree this is not a good year to swing and miss at a 2nd RB with our two best and most productive leaving.

True, but with limited spots available we simply cannot overlook those high ranking, high quality fits that want to be on the train. I think this staff learned some hard lessons last year and this won't be recruiting year 2012 all over again.

You have to remember this is THE GUY they wanted for the slot/RB position. They are not going to just kick him to the curb because we went 12-0 and are recruiting other players.

good point golden.

it really depends on how bad they want the guy and i think they've made it pretty clear that they want him pretty bad

So they should grab cheeks and potentially get cornholed on NSD?

No. You just continue to recruit backup plans. You don't have to kick Folston out, that way if things go how you want it he is Irish on NSD. And if things go south, you have more options willing to be Irish later. You don't have to kick a kid out when you have backup plans, thats the whole luxury of it IMO

I really really want Folston at Notre Dame. But if he decides to go elsewhere, Notre Dame will be fine.

Did Whiskey say that RB/Z was at 9/8 or whatever?

Keep in mind that Carlisle has three years of eligibility left. There won't be a need to panic if he goes to Auburn.

Well if he doesn't give ND an answer before the 25th it would funny if Kelly could tell all the visitors, at least all the defensive ones that "hey we want all of you and it just happens as of last week we have room for all of you. Let's make it happen."

I think it is somewhere in between. I think you still recruit for that other spot and put the heat on him to reaffirm at a certain point as some others suggested. I don't think you give him the ultimatum right after the visit elsewhere.

Agreed, this kid is a big want.

Anyone who wants to kick him to the curb needs to realize how pointless of a move that would be. Leave him be and continue to actively recruit the position as if he wasn't committed. As long as he's looking, the staff is hunting. But don't make the kids decision any easier.

The ND stock has been up and down lately if you look at it short term. But stretch the graph out to a 10 year span and we are way up.

This staff wants TF but is not desperate enough to leave a spot open until NSD for him. The only way that happens is if he "Greenberries" us...

Agreed, Folston is like the cherry on top of the cake. It makes it better, but if you take it off, it is still that great cake to eat and enjoy. I want to keep him as well, but losing him will not be HUGE loss considering we have plenty of bodies at his projected position.

I'll be surprised if he ends up at ND. Committed only 2 weeks ago and already uneasy with decision in that he says he won't make a final one until NSD. If that's not a tell then I don't know what is.

Got to hope we keep Bryant and get Isaac/Wilson on campus.
