He lied by not admitting this was an online relationship from the start.

His dad lied by saying the girlfriend visited him in Hawaii.

The stories about him meeting her in person came from his dad. He most likely fibbed to his parents because he was embarrassed to admit where he actually met this woman. I think his dad was relaying what he believed to be the truth but was really a white lie from his son.

Anything is certainly possible. I would say this though. Almost all the computers come with built-in cameras nowadays. It is certainly the normal response to think that skype, facetime, or whatever software would be use to talk between each other on a regular basis. She supposedly graduated from Stanford, you would think she would have a laptop of some kind and be accustomed with the technology...

That being said, elaborate schemes happen. Manti does certainly seem (what we hear from people around the program) like such a compassionate and trusting person that he would be a perfect candidate to get wronged like that.

Manti's uncle had a run in with Roniaha (or whatever) post "lennay's" death. Roniaha introduces himself as running some leukimia charities and stuff and introduces "Pooka" as his own cousin (Pooka is actually Roniaha's sister). Manti says that Pooka is Lennay's sister and she would speak on the phone with when Lennay became too tired to talk. Roniaha made a bunch of claims of things he was doing for the Troy Poloamau foundation (that, believe it or not, Manti's uncle actually did). Roniaha was watching closely over Pooka the entire time and she was only nodding yes and no.

Manti's uncle just felt like Roniaha was trying to get close to Manti for future money or something.

I dont know....just so. damn. weird.

I guess it depends on your definition of long distance. We lived 14 hours apart and saw each other only once every 4-6 months.

If its only 2-5 hours and you see eachother with some consistency then I could understand never using it.

You can lie to us, but you can't lie to yourself. This is a black eye, and it was placed right over the one Bama gave us that was just starting to have a nice greenish-yellow patina.

I know yes, thats true. But I'm more saying the big picture perspective of this thing.
What bothers me the most, beyond the effect is has on Manti as an individual, is how it completely ruined our BCS game.

No disrespect at all aub, but I'm getting a little tired of people using a logic string that includes assuming she is a real person.

Yes, if she was really a Stanford grad, she may likely have a laptop with a camera... but you do realize how easy of a fib that is to work with right?

There is an easy lie to tell someone for about every scenario, assuming the other person trusts you.
