Which one is JayR? Who is he in "real life"?

Eff trying to follow this.

That position is kind of the "middle of the road". I see four positions out there:

1. Manti is totally innocent and was totally fooled.

2. Manti is mostly innocent but may have lied to his dad and told him he met Lanay in person.

3. Mainti is half innocent. He was fooled at first but then lied to everyone to cover it up when he learned the truth.

4. Manti is a liar and a creep and a disgrace to humanity.

My goodness, even if this WAS all baloney, Manti is in no way a "disgrace to humanity". It would be a shame, and he would be looked down upon, but there are greater tragedies.

Lol I'm not saying it's MY opinion or even a possibility. But go on twitter for five minutes and then tell me that's not what a LOT of people are saying. I didn't mean "these are the possible outcomes", I meant "this is what people are saying."

It would be a disgrace for humanity to see it that way.

When I brought this whole story up to my girlfriend, her biggest question was, why does everyone care so much about Manti, but not that "catfishing" is clearly becoming a very big deal and is reaching new levels?

But he's not news...he's a comedian.

This is actually really appropriate right now

I agree, but as we know...

Because you're using logic, not the mass hysteria of Twitter and the E! generation.

Millions of people watch Jon Stewart and many of them trust him for the news more than NBC/ABC/FoxNews/etc. Hell I'd trust Stewart more than ESPN.

And that's a shame....Those news sources you cited may not be perfect...but I'll take professionalism over a joker anyday.

I'm good friends with a guy that was a camera man for the daily show for many years...Mr Stewart is a very "interesting" guy.

At least he acknowledges his bias.

If 50 million people say a foolish thing, it's still a foolish thing.

This clearly isn't the arena for a political debate but when I watch the MSM (no matter which channel) I don't see "professionalism"...more like infotainment that panders to the lowest common denominator for views and creates faux controversy in order to advance an agenda. Is Jon Stewart more trustworthy? Probably not but he's certainly not much less trustworthy...at least people realize Stewart is trying to be funny and push an agenda. Other stations cling to claims of "objectivity."

When the heck is Manti going to explain his side of the story? I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, but the longer he goes without talking, the worse this situation is getting.

I actually think ESPN has been relatively fair. They've been very conservative, have been quick not to blame anyone, and most of the people they've interviewed have been respectful to Te'o and acknowledged that we don't know enough yet.

Although I've been getting annoyed every time they mention the "former player's comments" and assume that the player means that Te'o knew Lennay was fake, not that he meant Te'o embellished the relationship (which is what most of us think).

Of course. I agree with you on the MSM...I was just pointing out that I still refer to them and the internet above Stewart.

Now let''s get back to our Captain's fake girlfriend.....LOL

Notre Dame has the best information. They were the only ones who had an investigation of the (emails, phone records, tweets, etc). Not one news agency is acting like they heard a word of what Swarbrick said. Hate runs deep...especially ESPN. I think Gretta would do a great job if she were chosen to have the Teo conversation.

Would you mind posting it?

Does it seem to fit shady or knowledgeable premise?

I got to search for it in my posts archive... Idk what I would call it other than mysterious. It was from an account that only followed Teo and the "girl" and was around a specific time where something happened to the "girl"

Circumstantial.

Would you post it in the other thread when you find it good sir?

Reps when done!

Some guy I've never heard of was on ESPN today made a good point, as painful as it may be: That ND goes and hires a private investigator to help Te'o out, but doesn't hire private investigators for the arguably more serious Declan Sullivan and Lizzy Seeburg cases because they were afraid of what would be uncovered. Just some food for thought.
