Joe Schmidt is in at ILB as well. Didn't he play against Navy? Not that me mentioning him means that I think that solidifies the depth there, but I think he's at least somewhat an option maybe as a depth player.

If it were all up to me, I'd bring back one of Fox/Carlo, and preferably Fox. Obviously bring back Martin and Watt.

Then my dream finish up to the class would be EV, Fitts, Prevot, and another ILB. And if it just won't happen with another ILB, then I'd be fine with taking the TE. I know depth won't be a problem this year (or really even next- '14), but I'm terrified of losing Niklas, Welch, and Koyack all in the same year and then only having MH and whatever TE the staff signs next cycle as the only returning TE's on the roster. Of course the staff can sign 2 TE's next cycle, but why not get a guy in the fold now and only have to sign 1 next cycle?

And to add-- if the plan is to keep Spond, Councell, and then Smith at DOG, then I hope Okwara moves to CAT. If Okwara ends up at CAT, then I'd be ok with the staff skipping out on Prevot this year. The futures of Councell and Okwara could be key here-- 2 guys with great frames, athleticism, and who the staff seem to really like...but where/how do they fit in? Also, where and how does Randolph fit in? Does the staff see him as a great OLB prospect...but an average ILB prospect? Or maybe the staff is equally high on him as an OLB or an ILB?

I guess in other words, maybe I see ILB and TE with more concern than I do OLB.

No getting AA back because of the affeforementioned transfer rules mentioned a few threads ago.

Isn't it karma though that ND though AA claims he left because of the potential of Kelly bolting but in the end Kelly stays in Florida loses a key coach?

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'd rather take a new commit than keep either Fox or Calabrese. Fox is clearly more appealing than Carlo and would welcome him back if we strike out...But I don't think he's good enough to refuse a recruit..

Can you guarantee how much progress Fox is going to progress this year? Will it be as great as this last year? Even if it is half, how good of an ISLB does that make Danny? Purtydamnd good?

FLORIDA'S SUCCESS THIS YEAR DUE IN LARGE PART TO QUINN: He gone. LOL

WOW! What a big change, Gainsville Fla to Seatac! Dude better buy a sunlamp.

Sorry - it was a badly timed joke.

Carry on ......

Many interesting thoughts here, and I don't have time to comment on all of them, but the bolded really worries me as well. After AA decommitted, we seem to have decided that we won't go after any new ILBs and we'll just shuffle around the guys we have if we have to ... but what if that drastically reduces some guys' (dare I use the term) potential?

i get what ur saying...but i think sometimes we just get so caught up in thinking we "know" what is best for the team or where they would be best suited...this is NOT at u emcee but more in general in terms of the board...we are all guilty

Some of the scouting reports on Randolph indicate that his ceiling may be higher at ILB. At the very least, he fits Diaco's physical profile better on the inside.

We just have to get another ROLB first.

Oh, well that is very encouraging. I guess it makes sense to snare Prevot or Hollins or maybe both and call it a day at LB.

Fictional conversation between Kelly and Diaco:

BD: Coach, you going to let me have both Dan and Carlo?
BK: Maybe not, Bob, better plan otherwise. We could hit a jackpot in the next week.
BD: Yes, I thought that. How about just Dan?
BK: That's what I'm seeing. Can you make that work?
BD: Yes. Not ideal, but yes.
BK: What's your plan?
BD: Without Carlo but with Dan we've got 13 linebackers with hopefully one more recruit, and using no DBs.
BK: Break it down for me.
BD: Spond, Councell, and Smith at DOG --- loaded.

---- Shembo, Williams, and Okwara, Utupo, or Rabasa as a third CAT, that is loaded too.

---- Grace and Fox starting in the middle [that will be solid I believe]...
BK: Subs?
BD: Well, Deeb and Moore belong there, but I think we need to put Randolph and Rabasa there too. AND, I'd like to cross-train either Ben or Danny --- not both --- we can see in the Spring. Joe can be the last line of defense here.
BK: Grace and Fox. What if, God forbid, both are hurt or sick some Saturday?
BD: I think that then is when we move Danny or Ben over, and Jaylon into more playing time, and fill the other spot with Anthony, Michael or Doug. No team has great solutions if BOTH internal LBs go down at once.
BK: And if we get another CAT?
BD: Makes the Rabasa thing easier; ... also lets me cross-train Romeo at DE and leave Justin there.
BK: Not ideal I guess but there seem to be some young studs who want in.
BD: I can make it work, Coach.
BK: Yes, I know. That's why you got the raise.

I wonder if the fact that we are still looking for another CAT and were not pishing for Hooper suggests that Okwara is, in fact, moving to DE?

I think he can put on the weight, but there room in our scheme for more of a 270lb edge rusher, more like Lynch if he stayed lighter?

Rumors of Okwara to DE have been floating around recently.

Would require freakish strength, so if anyone can pull it off, Okwara might be the guy. Though Lynch may have been even more effective at 285-300; sadly, we'll never know.

With apologies [for many things]:

To Prevot, Fitts, and Vanderdoes......

"The problem is all inside your head; it's there to see
...
The answer is easy if you take it logically
...
I'd like to help you in your struggle to be free
...
There must be fifty ways to leave that mutha.
...
...
It's really not my habit to intrude
...
Furthermore I hope my meaning won't be misconstrued
...
So I repeat myself, at risk of being crude
...
There must be fifty ways to leave that mutha.

Just slip out the back, Jack; Make a new plan, man
...
Don't need to be coy with Troy; just listen to me
...
Hop on the bus with us; don't need to discuss much
...
{pssst... Drop off the key, EV; and get yourself free}.
...
...
There must be fifteen guys gonna leave that mutha. "

According to Sapp, there is no indication of this being tied to Isaac's recruitment since he's being sought as a muliltiple position player i.e. Anthony Barr.
