Point stands. I personally know two people that got duped (to a much, much, MUCH lesser degree) on the internet by fake girls. It's a cruel joke, but not criminal in any way.

I dont think we did either but the first thing I read was the ND football facebook page with haters saying that ND and the whole team knew and lied about it to get national spotlight, proposterous I know but seriously that would be the one of the worst things to ever happen to us.

A lot of you guys treat real life like it is set up for your entertainment.

Swarbrick had a professional investigation firm do a report that led to identifying people on the internet bragging about the scam. He stood in front of cameras and stated unequivocally that he and the University was completely confident that Manti was the victim based on the findings of that investigation. But the details that you constantly concoct in your head don't quite add up despite the fact that Manti has one of the most exemplary characters of anyone we hear about from EVERYONE who meets him? Get real.

I try to stay balanced, but this is pathetic. I am going to need some pretty clear proof to just dismiss Jack and Manti like they are just two shmoes covering their asses.

Why must chicken littles always take the negative side of everything? This is horrible and it's cruel and my heart goes out to Manti and his family. But why must some people, on this forum and elsewhere, act like everything that happens means ND is doomed and the sky is falling? Is this embarrassing for ND? Perhaps slightly but to act like the house is on fire over this is ridiculous. Stop overreacting! Whatever happens, let it happen and stop worrying about everything. Jeez.

This is correct. This article states that he went home to get closure with his grandmother but does NOT mention the alleged girlfriend.

Swarbrick and Te'o are lying. Who refers to a girl they have never met and who has fails to show up for several face to face meetings as their girlfiend?

I hope that Manti comes through this ok and can appreciate that the university are in an incredibly tough position. There is a chance that omerta wins out but too many elements of the story will fail to mesh together as to leave several questions without a satisfactory answer.

Ray Lewis has managed a storied NFL career and there was circumstantial evidence that he was implicated in a double homicide. Te'o may make it through and is fortunate that the NFL playoffs are likely to dictate that the initial story will begin to lose momentum by Saturday.

However this is the type of case which is likely to be scrtuinised in detail; such that it may be revisited when all the facts are gathered and a slow news window presents itself.

Can someone confirm my facts here:

Manti received a phone call from the voice of Lennay at the Home Depot awards show Dec 6th. He went home over break and talked the situation over with his family. Then upon returning to school, he contacted BK and BobD and Jack. From there, the university hire a private investigator to look into this. Meanwhile, Deadspin comes out with the story today. Does this all seem accurate? There's a lot of info out there right now and I'd just like to keep my facts straight.
