My mind is blown. I can't believe they've known for 3 weeks and din't say anything!
you serious, clark?
They knew about this on December 26th and we are just hearing about it now, in this way. Terrible, terrible PR at best.
Were they? My bad.
I wouldn't do anything publicly either. That's so embarrassing for Manti, I'd try to keep it on the dl as well.
Look at all the stories about how he met her and did all those other things... how can you twist it that he's the victim.
I haven't felt this bad in a long long time.
Reading the article again and its hard to think Teo wasnt in on this. Just too much stuff against him, but man I hope I'm wrong
Epic troll job.
One of the many questions I have here, what is the punishment for the people who hoaxed him? Could this have broken any laws?
My God.
So is this best possible scenario:
A) ND statement is completely true
B) any stories of them meeting/talking was a cover up because of what? embarrassment?
In which case ND and Manti are at some fault but not that bad?
Did he ever claim to have met her? I don't remember that. The daily phone calls could certainly have been part of the hoax.
Notre Dame Statement: Manti Te’o
On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te’o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators.
