I saw before the BCSNCG a video from kiper talking about how fox was an interesting prospect and could be a mid round pick so that could be the reason for the tweets

Hey Whiskey, I guess I toltally missed the boat on Fox's tweets. What's gonig on there. Going to go search the other threads, but would appreciate your take.

So my guess is the combo of Fox/Carlo will both be gone. Wouldn't have guessed that 2 months ago, that's for sure.

The next few weeks are going to blow my mind.

Maybe I'm missing something, but we seem to have more spots left than we previously assumed.

17 Fr + 22 So + 18 Jr = 57.

85 - 57 = 28 spots for 2013 commits + 5Ys.

28 - 22 = 6 spots for new 2013 commits + 5Ys.

Assuming 1 medical (Nichols) and 1 transfer (?), that jumps up to 8 spots.

That would require losing two current Fr/So/Jr (probably 1 medical and 1 transfer), Slaughter loses his appeal for a 6th year, and ND lets both Fox and Calabrese walk. Possible, but not without downside.

EV+ Fitts+ Prevot and start up the bus, unless ONE really good superman comes running in late.

I have no problem saving a scholarship for 2014 when, I believe, we're a little down in numbers. [22 maybe?]. [can't guess this accurately until we see exactly what the 2013 squad is].

IF we're at 20-21, and we need to harvest the plentiful DLine and Oline bigs we're seeing already, those numbers are going to be important/precious.

Per II ND wants Vanderdoes, edge rusher and depends on third guy. ND would be fine with signing two more guys

I would love to be a fly on the wall in the coaches office the weekend of 1/25-27. There will be so many quality players on campus with so few open spots. That is good stress to have. Gonna be exciting to see who gets offered and who doesn't?

I have to ask then if Fox and Carlo are both gone who the heck are the ILBs next year?

Jarrett Grace and ugh? Who is playing the Will? What about backups in case of injury? Not a great situation at that position. Which is a shame because the rest of the defense should only be stronger or as strong as 2012.

It would basically be Grace and Moore, with only Deeb behind them. Rabasa and Randolph could move inside, and there have been rumors of Councell moving to ILB too (weird, I know). But in any case, after Grace and Moore, there's no one with any experience. Strong argument for bringing back both Fox and Calabrese.

Exactly. Grace and Moore are the only returning players currently listed at ILB, and neither is proven, although Grace is anointed as a "werewolf". Now, there are others who could conceivably move to ILB ... there have been rumblings of Councell and Spond moving there (Councell I don't see, Spond maybe), and Rabasa and Utupo were both previously listed at the position (but both appear to be pure pass rushers who struggle in space). Even if a few of those guys move, that's still dangerously little experience at the position. If we are serious about making a run at Pasadena I think we need at least one of Fox and Carlo back, probably both.
