So...I'm a bit bored...I'd like to take a roll call on any posters with musical talents on the boards.

I've been playing guitar and bass as well as singing for ~15 years now. I mostly have been playing acoustic as of late.
I'm slowly rebuilding my electric guitar rig after selling it all off a few years back.

I miss my Gibson Flying V, Peavey 5150 Amp head, and Marshall 1960a speaker cabinet dearly...tone for days.

I like to tear things apart and see how they work...modify stuff...that kind of thing.

My main acoustic guitar is a wine red 2000 Gibson J-45 '68 Reissue with a number of upgrades. She's a honky tonk machine.
I have a couple of Alvarez acoustics that don't see much action...because nothing touches the J-45!

I've rebuilt a Schecter Blackjack 006 electric and heavily modified it in the process...she screams...and plays better than anything I've ever played except for a 67 Les Paul Custom "Fretless Wonder". Bill Lawrence L500-XL and L-500R pickup set sounds amazing in the Schecter.
I have a couple Epiphone Les Pauls and a Special Run Ash Fender Telecaster in butterscotch blonde that I'm going to upgrade the sh!t out of for fun...like the Schecter, it will get a new nut, new tuners, new bridge saddles, new string guides, new pickups, maybe some new electronics...who knows! I have an urge to put my mark on her!

I have a beat up old Fender Mandolin that I've been teaching myself with too.

Amplifier wise I have a Peavey Classic 30 with a number of upgrades to it, most notably an upgraded speaker (Eminence Cannibus Rex, hemp coned, speaker).
I also have a Peavey XXL head and a Peavey 212 speaker cabinet with 2 Celestion Vintage 30s in it.

Effects wise I have the obligatory Boss Tuner (TU-3), an SD-1 (modded to Keeley specs), a BD-2 (also modded to Keeley specs), and I recently picked up a Line 6 Pod X3 Live to use as a recording interface. I'm going to start building my own pedals at some point...my first project will be a basic compressor pedal I think. I'm sticking to modding for the moment. Hopefully I'll eventually get into building amplifiers myself someday.

I'm looking to add a Dr. Z Maz 18 Jr. Non Reverb combo amp and another guitar (one with P90 pickups), or two (another Gibson Flying V...maybe an Explorer) when I get some type of project started.

Pretty basic stuff for me...I'm not too fancy or flashy.

Any other musicians out there???

Keep at it! Getting past the plateau is the hardest part.
What kind of music do you play?

I'm playing rootsy rock, alternative country, some metal, blues rock, blues, hard rock...
Just depends on the mood!

The rootsy rock and alt-country is what I have been writing.

I play a little acoustic guitar. I'm currently playing a "Saxon Limited Edition" that I got for Christmas. (my brother in-law makes guitars and mandolins in his shop)

Nice! I have a cousin who is a luthier...he builds guitars and repairs all types of stringed instruments. A very nice resource to have!

Bob...I wish I could play the piano.

I'm not real good but I took lessons for a few years as a kid. I wish I could play the guitar, it's much easier to take camping.

Cool thread.

Learned to play bass on the only one I ever owned a G&L L 1000. Has a natural finish. Still have it. Haven't played it in awhile. Sold my amp to a former bandmate.

My drum set is a Yahama Beech Custom Absolute. Has a marine pearl finish. 24" kick, 14" rack tom, 2 floor toms 18" and 20".

Have a lipstick red Gibson SG Maestro Reissue. Mess around using a little mini Marshall practice amp. I also have a crappy acoustic that I mess around on from time to time.

Don't play much anymore but I played in a bunch of crappy punk, garage rock and rock and roll bands over the years. Had some good times and played shows with some semi big name rock and punk bands. Love playing loud rock and roll. Haha.

One of my many NY's resolutions is learning to play the acoustic guitar. As soon as work slows down a bit I plan to start researching what to buy. If any of you have recommendations... I'd really appreciate it.

I have no talents, and music is definitely not one of them. But I'd like to hear an IE musical production at some point. All you talented people above me should be in it

edit* I can hum pretty good

I play a mean jaw harp.

Seriously.

I wouldn't admit that before the Bama game.

"Talent" is a fallacy. Genes play a role, but nearly anyone can develop the skills to be "competent" singers or musicians. It's just muscles and tissues. Train them and you'll do better.

I have been playing guitar for a while. Have a few acoustics but have never really gotten into electrics. Mostly learned how to play to have something to do around campfires.

Some of my favorite jams to play are:
- Every Rose Has It's Thorn (c'mon... who doesn't know all the words)
- Brown Eyed Girl (for my wife)
- Down By The Water (Decemberists)
- Different Bluegrass and Alt Country
- Purple Rain... I love playing this one.
