I though there had to be some sort of pre-existing relationship? Or is that just in relation to the prospect being on a visit?

If he still is uncommited to somewhere when he visits ND i think we have an incredible shot. The kid seems to as of late been speaking very highly of ND and its players, 2 months ago i thought we had a 0% shot at him. This coaching staff doesnt quit and i love that

Can't imagine how much pressure Kiffin and Co. will put on him to re-commit and not take the visit to Notre Dame. Our coaches need to good job of talking him through that pressure in advance.

And then pressure him 100 times harder to secure a commitment. Dog eat dog....

I don't think we should laugh at him. I agree with his premise - there is wayyy too much unnecessary (and frankly mostly unfunny) sarcasm posts after every single thing posted. It has it's time and place, and some instances are hysterical and greatly timed, but I think it is being extremely overused right now on here.

Or on the flip side, how many creepy people will follow an 18yr old HS kid!

Creepy....;)

Nick Saban would have taken him on holidays to the Barbados, Floriada and then Nashville...just to let him know he was welcome as part of the family.

Glad everyone got the message. Maybe if someone could explain to me why these things are funny and necessary, I could develop an appreciation for it. I'm all about humor, but none of these things are remotely witty/ironic/humorous. It's just gratuitous nothingness; posting for the sake of posting something. Putting a mindless sentence in italics doesn't automatically make it funny. The best humor utilizes irony to make some kind of a point. This is just re-mining territory that has been mined ad nauseum already.

I'm not trying to single out the few posters quoted above, their timing was just unfortunate in relation to Ironman's terrific comment. They are certainly not alone in wasting bandwith on unfunny nonsense.

Has it ever occurred to you that possibly your grouchy and Debbie-downer attitude isn't exactly enjoyable to read, in contrast to those pointed out?

Since you're pointing all of this out, I thought it only fair to you that you know your posts are burning my a$$ right now even though I consider you a good poster and someone I generally enjoy.

I do find it a little strange that I'd be considered a Debbie Downer and grouchy, since that doesn't really mesh with my personality at all. I definitely don't intend for my posts to come across that way. I just don't find mindless blabbering humorous, even if its in italics. I assume that I'm not alone on this, because on the rare occasions where I've spoken up about irritating behavior on the board I have received a lot of positive feedback, either in the thread or in the form of reps or PMs.

Dude, relax and if u aren't trying to single out anyone than why quote. I will stop being sarcastic when u pull the stick out of your a$$, and no sarcasm meant. You are posting to post/bitch about something that was always addressed, so explain to me why u decided to revive something dead?
In all honesty I think it is kinda creepy to follow a 18yr kid on twitter unless the follower personally knows them.

The italics burn my rear too.

Truthfully.

But I think a lot of what you've read and seen have to do with the way people are handling this semi-unpleasant week or so.

When things are good, I don't notice all of the italics and grump nearly as much as I so when things are bad.

And you know something else, I bet I've been an annoying bastage myself and may be categorized in one or both of the categories aforementioned.

The good news is I think our best days are ahead of us: us Irish fans.

I agree 100%. I don't think you needed sarcasm font there. I think my issue is less with the attempts at humor and the use of sarcasm (which I probably overuse myself in real life), and more with the overuse of italics. Effective use of sarcasm shouldn't require italics, but effective use of sarcasm also requires choosing the right spots.

I completely agree with RI. At least 75% of the posts in recruiting profiles are stupid and waste peoples' time. These profiles should be limited to recruiting news.

With you there. I just don't see why this needs to be pointed out, in a recruit's thread of all places. This goes for everyone here who is off-topic, not just you and including me at this most ironic moment. Let's just all get off each others' asses and try to contribute something positive to the board instead of this drivel - again, not just you, but all of us.

And Dillon since you spoke up (wrote up), I can't think of one other person that has more negative things to say on IE than you.

Have you considered maybe cutting back on that kind of non sense?

Italics shouldn't be needed but there are some dumb people out there so I tend to use it to avoid the mis-understanding. When I first joined IE I was told its the way it's done, I am not all savy with this message board crap and frankly come here for the info, cringing half the time if the post will get attacked by some of the more experienced members.

Sorry for the clog, I feel very good about EV sporting the blue and gold next season and his skill set will make him a force to be wrecken with.

I think if EV makes it to campus, we have a good shot.

I do worry about USC and Bama both.

It seems we've made a great impression with him and you have to think Kelly coming back helps.

Is it anyone's concern Saban might have the last crack at him?

Dude, calm down. I've barely posted anything since August, so don't stay stuck in your opinion of my views. Besides, I'm hardly negative in my view of Notre Dame and its football program. I'm as big of a homer and supporter of ND as any when I speak with people who are not affiliated with my university.

I probably come off as negative on this board because I usually only come here for serious discussion with other ND fans (most of whom are extremely biased and unrealistic). I don't feel a need to come here and make a post celebrating something (like a new commitment) when the 20 previous posts do the same thing. I only post something when I have a something unique/contrary to say. So you're only getting my negative side on this website, but I think I'm realistic in most of those posts.

Besides, what fun would the offseason discussion be if everyone here shared the same opinions?

Without a doubt. My hope is that he never makes it there. I get the warm, fuzzy feeling that he is trending ND right now. In that sense, I'm glad we get first crack. It's possible that he may just shut it down that weekend. You never know!

I feel if he comes of the USC OV there is a solid chance he commits on his visit to us, especially because, it's been said on here that all the Vanderdoes's will be visiting and if the parents are here I just feel like he won't make it to Bama.
