Hollins measured in at 6'1" and a smidge at an ESPN SPARQ combine, FWIW.

For argument's sake, there are tons of guys like Dwight Freeney who have been very successful at the highest levels at that height as pass rush specialists. There is obviously more risk of bust recruiting someone who is on the shorter side but it absolutely, certifiably does not limit his upside.

Von Miller is only about 1.5" taller. James Harrison is actually at least an inch shorter. OLBs can be successful at a lot of different heights.

Hollins is going to UCLA. I'll bet all my vbucks I currently have 100,000,040.73 he doesn't end up at ND.

6'3" (according to this) and he was a MLB I believe so it's not a fair comparison:

Luke Kuechly Profile - BCEAGLES.COM - Boston College Official Athletic Site

I know fans like to make the exception the rule, but this staff wants big OLBs for a reason. Hollins is exceptionally quick, but not a guy that Diaco should be bringing coffee at 4:30am, imo. Terrodney>Hollins.

The staff offered Hollins. I bet they knew how tall he was. Maybe his offer was conditional on him growing 2 more inches.

In regards, to Prevot's size everybody that I follow has said the same thing and that is he has a lot of work to do physically before he hits the field. His height has no relevance if he is playing at 200-215 range, which is most likely where he will be when he comes in. Now with that said I like both and as of right now both are situational pass rushers and thats it. Don't see a huge disparity in talent either so first to come aboard and I'm happy.

What does that have to do with the price of peanuts? The staff offered 70+ players in this class. Do you think they want each one all the same? And that's completely besides the point because I'm expressing my own personal opinion; obviously I cannot speak for the staff, lol. I like Terrodney over Hollins because of the height (they're both ~ the same weight). Terrodney also showed some promise in the all-star game last Saturday.

I don't think Hollins's height is an issue. Actually, I wonder if the staff would like to take both guys and use them like Ishaq/Shembo.

Hollins, like Shembo, would be the CAT/pass rusher. Lines up at CAT on standard downs and with his hand on the ground on 3rd down passing situations.

Prevot is the backup standard-down CAT and the starting 3rd down pass coverage CAT, just like Ishaq this year.

Just food for thought ...

Anyway, not sure that either guy can become more than a situational pass rusher, like Lucci is saying. Hollins' height limits him in coverage, as we prefer rangier guys; Prevot has the length but he has a lot of work to do in the weight room before he has the bulk to be of any use against the run or to fight off blocks at this level. So I think it's a really tough call. May come down to who the staff thinks it needs more in light of the other guys already committed.

If so, I think that would be Hollins. We don't have that James Harrison bull-rusher in this class yet.

Any other year we wouldn't even be having this debate because we'd probably try to get both, but because of the available spots I think it's very unlikely we take both.

I don't expect either to play significant time next year, and I think Terrodney has a chance to 'grow' into more of a specimen in time than Hollins does. Terrodney has really good speed. If he can add weight, he could be special in 3-4 years, imo.

This guy was listed at 6'4", 225 coming out of high-school. He's now 300+ and playing in the ship for us!

Terrodney has time to add the weight.

I totally agree with all that ... I said earlier in the thread that I would rather have Torrodney, and I'm sticking to that. The part about taking both was just simultaneous thinking/writing; realistically I don't see how we could do that.

Basically I think it's very, very close, and I could see an argument for taking either guy over the other.

Jake Brown just tweeted he will be visiting later this month...Maybe this is what TP was talking about today.

I dont think such information as that would warrant such a tweet like that from TP. Probably something a little bigger news than a prospect scheduling an OV.

Despite conflicting reports, UCLA commit Deon Hollins still set for official visits, including #NotreDame

I think he does end up at UCLA and not ND. Yes I'll put my vbucks on it if someone is willing to match it. To me if you are taking visit you are really not committed. Yes I know committs do it all the time but to me taking a visit signals you are looking at other options.

The AQM situation does change things. No I don't think ND gets him.

I wasn't provoking, I was reading through the last page and thought it was funny to see those posts. I think he chooses ND if Prevot doesn't flip and take the spot first, but I'm also not willing to put vBucks on that.

IMO, if we want Hollins we get him. Can't really put a bet out there because of the limited spots I'm not sure where he falls on the list of priority. But I do think if we want him we get him.

Common prove me wrong buddy. In light of the Prevot situation I think it is Hollins or no Hollins at this point.

"The Prevot situation"?. I think we overreact way to much on here. Prevot simply switched visit dates to line up when one of his buddies was visiting one of the same schools that was on his schedule. He immediately notified ND and rescheduled that visit.

If anything, his "situation" helps us, as we should have a clearly view of the numbers game when he gets here and can recruit him on the visit accordingly, while also having no other visits to take after (i.e. other schools to compare it to on his list).

Beat me to it. There is no "situation" beyond moving his visit back one week.
